Higgings got a reaction from Shimarin in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear!Perhaps I repeat myself but I agree on the parts about renewing some of the rewards daily quests offer, the same way devs renewed Native Islands' rewards for newcomers. Undoubtedly, their experience became way smoother than it used to be back in the days. What I feel like it's worth to do is updating old contents, may it be reward wise or event wise (Zurp's idea is enticing as well), enough for new players not to feel overwhelmed by the environment once they approach Ayvondil

Higgings reacted to vavavi in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear!Personally I find the difficulty jump from t2 to t3 significant. I remember even back when it was released the difficulty brought by the number of mobs around, their higher damage and vastly increased hp made it a lot more challenging to navigate even on a built char at the time.
Another thing is that while lack of talents and gears is to be expected, those are meant to be things you grind for over time after all, being locked out of things like expert skills due to their high price is crippling to their ability to try and improve their chars. If i had to guess, by that time, from following the story quests, you'll barely have made enough gold in total to afford one, and that's if we assume 0 gold was spent on resources and gears to reach that point. 40k gold is a ton for someone in that phase and there's 9 of them you have to acquire to reach a point where you char is at a position to even start thinking about improving and taking part in group content. Even if you put the difficulty and the challenges aside, this type of restriction on expert skills just deteriorates your experience. By that point you'll have put in a lot of hours into the game, only to find yourself stuck with 1/3 of the basic abilities that make your char what it is, while facing months of grinding repetitive quests (yes months, 360k is a ton of gold to get from questing even at a high level) just to get to a point where you can start learning and experiencing what your chosen class is about.
A solution to this could be keeping their price the same, but allowing people to unlock them with level milestones in a similar manner as skillpoints are. 1 choice of expert at 18, 2 more at 20, 1 more at 22/24/26/28 and the last 2 at 30. This would both provide incentive for people to keep playing and leveling up, while also making the leveling experience a lot more engaging and accessible. It would also allow people the option to rush them if you have the resources to do so at the same time.
On a unrelated note, it's very nice to see someone from the admin team engaging in the international section. It's a rare treat in these parts nowadays.

Higgings got a reaction from Akasha in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear! From my point of view, you're just spinning your own narrative and twisting the text to see whatever you want. Odd, even funny if you will, but inappropriate. We agree of one thing though: this conversation won't lead anywhere
Feel Free to do whatever you see fit.

Higgings reacted to vavavi in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear! While I personally agree with a lot of the things you've said, there still exists kind of a wall that players hit. The early game is a lot smoother thanks to updates, and once you do reach the late ish mid game it is very doable to progress even as a fully f2p player, but the gap between going from just starting out to that late ish mid game where you can progress is pretty steep (think going from t1/2 ayvo to t3/4/5 etc).
The way the game incentivizes people to progress is very linear, but the difficulty jumps don't follow this trend (I suspect this is because of the long time frames between new towns added and each of them being added as the "new end game thing"). Experience potions are very difficult to get when you're starting out as a f2p player, and mainly only following the story quests without them leaves you severely under leveled and geared once you hit this point. Obviously the solution would be to grind out those daily quests to breach that gap, but the early game ones simply don't provide enough incentive to do so. They're very time consuming and the rewards from them are so small that the time investment to grind them is simply too much.
Personally I have a higher level guild in my server which is almost purely dedicated to providing new players with guild buffs to help them progress, but time and time again i notice this trend where they tend to hit the same wall around the same time and end up quitting. It's a shame that the gap there is so difficult to pass, because once you do get past it there truly are plenty of ways to progress and get to enjoy the great things that have kept the game going for all this time.

Higgings reacted to Shimarin in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear!Oh well, I get it. To make the game popular, we just need to make a whole other game like those newer ones.
I think Warspear Online has withstood the test of time because it is a truly authentic form of game art. Instead of trying to catch up with trends, mimic other games, or radically change its core for the sake of "innovation", we are building on the foundation of a classic MMORPG, loved and celebrated by many eighteen years later.
I appreciate the perspective, but I can't agree with the author. There are dozens of guides on how to begin, how to level up quickly, and how to earn gold the F2P way. The game is not dead. It's just that sitting on the lower levels for far too long feels lonely.

Higgings reacted to Anim in Additional skill/equipment setsHello dear creators, gods of factions, fellow players or just random passer-by.
As game progresses, we noticed much changes in playstyle of characters, new maps with equipment sets (sea, almahad) or just pve vs pvp vs suicide eq set (lets be honest, suicide is fastest way to get town and nobody wanna spend repairs for that reason xD).
Therefore I suggest more equpment sets for characters (for example, templar or charmer or paladin etc. can be hybrid, physical, magical, pvp, sea and almahad set). Would be better for us in swithing equipments.
As for skill sets, also need 3-4 sets. For example templar can be tank, physical dmger, magic support and pvp set.
Hopefully developers will hear our prayers and add this to the game for better players experience.
Thank you all for reading.
Kind regards
Anim

Higgings reacted to Marcos Davila in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear!Your words are there, no matter how much you try to change the context to make yourself right, you already said it:
1. The market is slow.
2. The best way to make gold is with daily missions.
So how does it affect you if they modify the leveling mechanics? Besides, if you did, you tried to put words in my mouth to discredit what I'm saying: "What's wrong with people spending money?"
You're saying it yourself, the market has flaws, and it's fine that daily missions give gold, but they can't be the only viable economic method today.
Accept it once and for all, the game has a small population right now, and with people like you who, instead of contributing ideas, tear down the ideas of others... the game is unfortunately going to die. So goodbye to your progress, hours, and money invested. I won't reply to this post anymore. I've seen that if a moderator prefers to criticize and generate nonexistent debates, we're not going to get anywhere.
Probably some developer read the post and saw that the "moderator" said that he thought it was a bad idea to make a change because he was afraid that a new player would surpass his progress and he had ruled out the possibility of changing this mechanic.

Higgings reacted to Jollier in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear! The game died because there is tons of content for the newcomers to catch up with, which make the early game play is actually some useless filler. you cant get anything valuable at all from questing, killing bosses, etc. different from how it was back then when an equipment from a mini bosses can earn you enough to upgrade yourself and become decent. the problem of this game is not about its lack of update but how developers is letting all of the old map dies every time new map is updated.
in my opinion developers should add valuable things that is unique only can be gained in lower level maps (from starting map to the latest), whether it is an item you can use at all level to help combat abilities or non combat abilities, or any other that make the map stays relevant and all content starting from lvl 6 or up has a meaning and worth in value.

Higgings got a reaction from Друг ушей in It's time, isn't it? Wake up, Warspear!I don't think that's the reason why newcomers quit. The game in this sense has become a lot easier than how it used to be back in the days. Quests can now be easily done: you've got shortcuts, minions the game daily throws at you and you don't even need people to complete quests on the native islands anymore.
You can level up in the game - and even pretty fast nowadays - but newcomers who do that without spending for coins would see themselves being lv34 with the strenght of a lv18: they've barely got gold for an expert book, let alone for an entire set of equipment. And don't get me started on signs and amps in general.
My suggestions for newcomers is to start a legit yet for who-knows-what reason criticised method called "reselling". It's easy: you buy cheap stuff, you sell it for a higher price on market. Works especially for Tele Scrolls and Repair Scrolls (hardly for some runes but it works there too). Yes, it takes time and yes you'd need people to sell you stuff for cheap, but the income is pretty much guaranteed if you're patient enough
For devs instead I suggest one thing: what's the only midgame content that can be used to farm both gold and exp? Norlant Swamps! I'll never stress enough of how brilliant this map is in terms of exploration. It is a map that can be run naked - entirely - and offers a variety of good items if lucky enough.
Therefore, first: remove worhtless items as quest prize (norlant crystals, for example) and add Pots or anything that can be sold for a fair ammount to the NPC.
Second: Increase the number of quests one can do in there, like litterally creating new quests. You don't even need to increase the chances of dropping lv18 Heroic Items: just give people more chances to acquire them with quests.
It's a way for people who quickly level up to keep up, at least until they reach Ayvondil's T3 and T4. Let's be honest: unless you're in a guild that actively helps you there - hard to do if you don't get to know people - that is where troubles start.

Higgings got a reaction from Danlo in Ability to Claim/Purchase old inactive guilds/guild namesTouchy topic, ngl. Many have seen their guilds being lost due to inactivity and reclaiming it has always been a problem; this isn't the first topic of this kind I see. The very point of this measure was to assure the guild would keep its activity, but obviously it didn't work as expected. Do you have anything in your mind of how one could retrieve the guild back?

Higgings got a reaction from Tralala in Rework the War & Lifescroll system.Since you've written it yourself, you know exactly the reason why they've chosen said days for the war and why they'll hardly nerf the Life Scroll spam system, for it is one of the most important ways to assure income (maybe the 3rd? After Signs and Stams? No idea really, just guessing). I want to be frank with you: I doubt such idea will be taken into account - at least for the Life Scrolls part - but I do agree that war deserves some love in terms of update, in the same measure Norlant Swamps would, in my opinion

Higgings reacted to Laevateinn in Equipment & Costume Switching Quality of LifeFor a long time, changing equipment through the equipment window has worked well enough. When you want to replace an item, the equipment window only displays 4 items at a time. Pressing the Next button moves the list forward by just one item, so browsing through a large collection requires repeatedly clicking Next. Back when each character only used a few pieces of equipment, this wasn't a big issue.
However, today we use many different equipment sets. Even for weapons alone, many players switch between PvE weapons, Sea weapons, Sand weapons, Arena weapons, tank weapons, and more. As the number of equipment options keeps growing, this system becomes less convenient.
The problem is even worse for costumes. I personally don't buy many new costumes anymore because my bag is already full, yet I still own around 40 costumes. If I change to costume which I want from the equipment window, I have to press the Next button around 40 times.
My suggestion
In a recent update, we received a very useful bag filtering system that lets us browse items by category.
I'd like to suggest using a similar interface when changing equipment from the equipment window.
When we double-click an equipment slot to replace an item, instead of cycling through 4 items at a time, the game could open a filtered list showing every compatible item we own.
- Clicking an item once would display its detailed stats (or a costume preview for costumes).
- Pressing Use would equip the selected item.
"Why not just equip items from the bag?"
That's a fair question.
The problem is that equipment currently assigned to Equipment Presets 1–3 does not appear in the bag, so changing equipment from the bag isn't always possible. The equipment window is the only place where every available item can be managed, but its current interface doesn't scale well now that players own many more equipment sets than before.
I think this would be a great quality-of-life improvement, especially for players who regularly switch between multiple builds or own many costumes.
I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks. Thanks for reading!

Higgings reacted to vavavi in Guys, i'm 25 and What should i do now?The difficulty scales up a lot in later maps because they got released with big time gaps and were all designed to be end game content at the time of their release.
Ideally you would stick to 1 char. The talents and stuff take a long time to do, so switching chars won't go anywhere.
A few things that would help are
A. Look for a guild. Events, buffs and having people around helps out a lot.
B. Try to do daily quests in earlier maps. People do t3/4(pelion) quests a lot in parties. You can try looking for a pty for the dailies in world chat. T3 is usually called 85k, and t4 either pelion or 90/200.
C. You can also do daily quests in earlier areas. They still provide gold/knowledge/xp and are generally pretty fast
D. Using minions helps with the difficulty a lot. Trying to get some cheap support/dmg minions will make things noticeably easier. Especially if you combine it with guild buffs.
Since you're in EU, I can help you out with some of the stuff, minions and what not, if you pm me in game. I'm usually on my priest, name Vava, so pm and let me know its you.

Higgings reacted to Brutalist in Brutalist • Br-tourmaline • ReminiscencesIncipit: Totem
(Here Beggineth...)
Lost. I was lost, but not in time or space, but in my own thoughts. I was fully aware of my existence, but unable to project the slightest trace of emotion; there was a barrier in my being that chained me. However, I did not care. Looking down and looking at my left hand, I found a sword, and in that instant, I understood my purpose. So I waited.
I was not alone. Around me stood others like me, armed with shields, bows and arrows, static in the silence. But there was one who was different and answered to the name of Brutalist. Looking at him, a profound respect flooded me, I felt the irrevocable need to thank him for something as immense as my own life. Although… was I really alive?
There was no time to decipher the dilemma. The sands shook under the attack of the last mammoth. It was a fierce battle, a whirlwind of violence where many of those who seemed to be my brothers fell, destroyed by the brutality of the beast. But every storm has a beginning and an end; after a final effort, the creature collapsed.
While Brutalist raised his arms celebrating the victory, I felt my body begin to fade. I looked back one last time and saw how a totem of bones collapsed. It was at that precise instant when the noise in my mind turned off, I ceased to be lost in my thoughts, and I simply waited.
Explicit: Totem
(Here endeth...)
Incipit: Flowers
You are preparing for the storm. In a small
village of Irselnort, you know for certain that the elves will not be long in arriving. Around you, the trade of war is breathed in the air. You can notice it in the faces of the barbarians, death knights, and reapers. Everyone longs for the imminent chaos. You observe how they release the dogs, whose jaws drip an insatiable bloodlust. You see Brutalist along with other necromancers, they invoke the totems, monoliths of bone that, in turn, invoke soldiers identical to you, but with swords and shields. No one doubts. Everyone knows that many lives are about to be extinguished.
Then, you look at the sky and remember.
Returning to that adventure in Ayvondil, when you walked alongside Brutalist under the shadow of the black oak forest. You remembered that unique specimen: a tree from whose branches grew beautiful and delicate pink flowers; you had been dumbfounded by its beauty. It was at that precise instant when your consciousness understood how beautiful life could be.
But reality is not a tree with flowers. A fireball impacts you directly. The war has begun!
There is no pain. You feel how the impact disassembles your body, each of your ribs and phalanges separate, flying through the air, far from the epicenter of the conflict. You believe the end has come, but miraculously your consciousness remains intact. Now you are nothing more than an inert skull cast upon the grass, a simple spectator forced to witness the horror unfolding in front of you.
Knowing that you can no longer shoot arrows, you make an unimaginable effort to cling to that single thought that gave you peace. You visualize the tree. The screams of the village begin to silence in your mind. You are no longer in a war; you are resting at that tree of pink flowers. And there you will remain, waiting for someone to find you by accident.
Explicit: Flowers
Incipit: Regretful
He woke up in the middle of a combat arena where the crowd screamed with excitement. With only a few seconds of existence, it was not hard for him to understand the situation.
The one who through death had brought him to life, the necromancer Brutalist, had summoned him to fight and take the victory. His opponent was another necromancer, he noticed that they looked at each other’s faces with fury and small drops of regret. Then, the biological commands were activated in his empty marrow. Brutalist's will pulled the invisible threads of his structure, forcing him to act. Without questioning, the skeleton charged forward.
His opponent advanced with the same mechanical rigidity. It was another skeleton, an exact replica of himself born from the rival necromancer's totem. It was in that fraction of a second, just before their swords clashed, when he experienced something deeper than his purpose. Looking into the empty, glowing eye sockets of his adversary, he recognized his own prison. There was no hatred in his being; what invaded him was a silent and devastating regret. He understood that they were two identical souls, forced to destroy each other for a prize that neither of them would enjoy.
In the deepest part of his mind, the skeleton wished to lower his weapon. He yearned to extend a hand to his brother and refuse to participate in the cruel theater of the arena. However, his body did not belong to him. While his consciousness wept, his arms executed a flawless and lethal thrust.

Higgings reacted to Thunderer in Thunderer - EU Emerald - Your Arinar Tale - The Accidental Elf: How a Noob’s Misunderstanding Changed My Faction ForeverThe year was 2015. Armed with nothing but a physical-keyboard Nokia E63 Symbian phone and a thirst for adventure, I stumbled upon a pixelated masterpiece on the internet: Warspear Online. Intrigued by the shadows, I instantly created a Rogue. There was something magical about the ability to vanish into thin air, and I was hooked.
My journey began smoothly as I followed the NPCs' guidance, but the real baptism of fire happened at my first dungeon. Arriving at the entrance, I saw a crowd of players. I tried speaking to them, but my text bubbles were met with absolute silence. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, everyone vanished. “Where did they go? Is this the legendary Dungeon?” I wondered. Naively, I stepped through the portal alone. Within seconds, a vicious horde of mobs ambushed me. Powerless and overwhelmed, I was instantly wiped out and sent back to the respawn statue. It took me days of trial and error to finally understand the concept of a "party system," but the thrill of finally clearing that dungeon was unmatched. Soon after, my journey led me to the bustling, dangerous lands of Irselnort.
It was on this island that my gaming life took a bizarre turn. While minding my own business, another player rushed toward me and shouted :
"You are a scammer!"
Shocked, I quickly replied, "I am not a scammer!"
But he snapped back, "You are an Elf scammer!"
I stood there staring at my Nokia screen, completely bewildered. “Elf? What on earth is an Elf? Is it some kind of hidden subclass?”
I texted back firmly: "I don’t play an Elf," and he walked away.
That confusing encounter drove me to research the game's lore. That was when I discovered the eternal war between the Legion (Mountain Clans & Forsaken) and the Alliance (Firstborn Elves & Chosen). To clear my name, I created a new character on the Alliance side to investigate. After days of digging, I found the culprit: an actual scammer whose username was almost identical to my MC Rogue. Misunderstanding resolved, I happily returned to my shadow-walking Rogue.
Eventually, I hit level 21 in Irselnort. I had cleared all the yellow main quests and was happily farming gold through the blue daily quests. But suddenly, the dailies started disappearing. Desperate for gold, I turned to the internet and learned that Irselnort bosses dropped incredibly valuable loot. I rushed to a boss spawn point and found a fully geared level 20 player waiting. I begged him for a party invite, but he completely ignored me. When the boss spawned, we both attacked. The boss fell, but I received absolutely nothing. I assumed my damage output was just too weak. I waited for the next spawn, and the next, hoping for an invite that never came.
Frustrated and seeking revenge, I logged back onto my forgotten Elf character. My plan was simple: level up this Elf, get strong, track him down, and challenge him to a PvP duel to teach him a lesson!
However, fate had other plans. I got so deeply immersed in the vibrant community, the beautiful landscapes of the Alliance, and the sheer fun of my new character that I completely forgot why I was leveling it up in the first place. The Rogue was left in the shadows of the past, and I permanently became a proud Elf main.
Today, as an experienced veteran of Arinar, I look back and laugh. I finally discovered that Irselnort bosses have a strict level cap of 20; anyone higher receives zero loot. That player didn't invite me because my level 21 Rogue was literally useless to him! Looking back at my younger self on that tiny Nokia E63 screen, I can't help but smile at how beautifully clueless I used to be. Warspear Online didn't just give me a game; it gave me a decade of unforgettable, hilarious memories.
Thank you for reading my journey !
Note: My old Nokia E63. It no longer turns on, but it holds the entire memory of how my journey in Arinar began back in 2015 :)
