well i'm thinking maybe if you put dagger in main hand you would have 1.7 second attack rate even with sword in secondary slot or if you have sword in main slot but dagger in secondary you would get 2 second attack rate.

Or would you have 1.8 or 1.9 seconds attack rate.

If the first one is true it could give you more damage per second with the correct weapon in each hand.

No it's the same speed if you put dagger in main or off hand.

Speed formula for rogues is this:

Assume 10% attack speed for all examples.

One handed sword.  Sword is 2.0.

(2000-100)/1.34=1417 or 1.417 seconds swing speed

One handed dagger. Dagger is 1.7.

(1700-100)/1.34= 1194 or 1.194 seconds swing speed

Two hands both sword.

((2000-100)+(2000-100))/1.34= 2835 or 2.835 seconds swing speed

Two hands both dagger.

((1700-100)+(1700-100))/1.34= 2388 or 2.388 seconds swing speed

Two hands dagger/sword.

((2000-100)+(1700-100))/1.34= 2611 or 2.611 seconds swing speed

The -100 is your attack speed stat.  If you had 20% attack speed it would be -200.  As you can see from the formula it doesn't matter if the dagger is in the left or right hand, the result of the formula is the same number.  Since damage is based on your main hand (and your offhand is 50% damage) its always the right answer to put sword in your main hand for higher damage (unless your dagger is amped higher and actually has a higher base damage than your sword).

Hope that helps.

I suck at math so I'm gonna make this simple

From my experience using rogues with Sword on MH and Dagger on OH and Dagger on both,

You get 2 different swings on each attack you do in one session,

let's say you got sword on mainhand and dagger on offhand, your first hit will be slow which is from your mainhand and your second hit would be fast from your offhand and so on until you stop attacking for a moment then it goes back to mainhand attack.

The speed won't change, only negative thing about it is, if you use dagger on MH and sword on OH your Merciless Strike would be weaker.
