Tell The Story

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

So recently I noticed that many people really enjoy the story of the game (see the Warspear Chronicles or my other topic Fill In The Gaps). But most people don't take the time to do so, for whatever reasons (it is quite time consuming).

So I thought I would create this topic for anybody who does read the quests to share knowledge about the story. (If devs give us bonus details that aren't in the game that's cool too:tired2:).

If you want to contribute please label your post like so:

Canon :factual information (so far as your memory allows)

Canon++ :Includes the game storyline and is set in the game realm, but your imagination is added!

Okay, so I'm going to start with the skeleton storyline of the base islands to get us rolling! (Not all in a single post tho, thatd b mad long).

CANON

Firstborn;

You are going along with your regular elf business. You visit the capital, Illhor, and find yourself a job at the mill. A war is impeding. The fairies and local wildlife have gotten aggressive. You quickly show your abilities and become very useful helping prep for the war. Doing this you journey about the island, helping to protect villages from mad animals. Also, there is a pirate attack on the island you help stop. Eventually you discover that forsaken sorcerors have infiltrated the island. Some elves who were once good are now no more than puppets of the necromancers (although this isnt apparent). They have also managed to curse the guatd spirit of Melvendil, which was the cause of all the animals, fairies and wisps going feral. You earn much respect and are sent to Irselnort where your abilities will be useful in the war agaunst the Legion.

So, thats about that. It was very brief, and there are a lot of details to fill in later. Hope you all liked it. If it was difficult to understand or anything, please do tell me. 🙂

Yes, please, post more so I finally know which game I've been playing since 5 years:kawaii:

Hehe, really doing the quests is better. That way you can experience how the gms tell the story. I find the writing technique is really well executed.

Anyways, on to Mountain Clans.

CANON

So in mountain clans you begin your journey in the capital city of Godgarra (spelling is wrong, somebody correct me. I know I could go check myself but I'm too lazy:blush:)

You had been on your way to grant give the chief of the Wolf Clan (the Chief chief of all the clans) a gift. However, on the way your gift was stolen. You really need to find this gift so you talk to everybody and they give you tasks in return for information, advice and some money.

Meanwhile you have proven your abilities to be impressive so the shamen (shamans?) are led to believe that you are favoured by the spirits. They set you upon the path of the spirits to test if you have the makings of a great warrior.

To complete the path of spirits each clans chief and shaman must believe you to be fit. This forces you to carry out tasks (of both everyday and spiritual significance) at each town. During this time you continue to ask about and search for your missing gift.

At a stage you end up working for a necromancer who you find is fooling one of the clan chiefs into being his slave. (Basically you discover the Forsaken are manipulating the Mcs into siding with them in the war). You overlook this, however (I dont know/cant remember why).

At the last town you manage to complete the path of spirits and find your gift. Somebody stole it and used it as a prize for a tournament, so to get it back you had to prove to the tournament winner you were more worthy of the prize than him.

As the trial of spirits has proven you a great warrior, and you have presented your gift to the wolf clan chief, you are sent to Irselnort to join forces with the Legion in the war against the Sentinels.

Laoch cróga!(?) I noticed your interest and decided to bring back some campfire stories of Arinar, the beggining of the factions - I believe they are no longer found excepting in PT language (you can consider this as a bonus content, they're official). I would write about the classes, but this would take too much space and unfortunately I don't have the stories of new classes yet. - Enjoy!

Firstborn

Spoiler

UdajzDl.png?1

Elves, also known as the Firstborn, were created by Deity Nuadu at the beginning of time. Granted with an almost infinite life span, the elves were designed to assist the Heavenly Brothers as the Keepers of peace and order in Arinar, protecting the Spear from infringement of Garaan-made demons Jakkars. Their long life allowed the elves to achieve great wisdom and sharpen their natural skills with swords and bows.

However, the paucity of Nuadu’s children almost led to their extinction during the war against Jakkars who craved the Spear. Then Harad created humans to make them faithful students and allies to the elves. However, the hot temper of humankind became a reason for the war between two Keepers’ races – and they clashed in the bloody War of Moon and Sun. Only then, when both peoples understood how devastating the discord was, humans and elves signed a pact for Eternal peace. During the horrible years of the War for the Spear, the two races fought side by side against the Legion spawned by Garaan’s black breath.

After the glorious victory over the Damned King Orin’s army, the elves didn’t return to the war-devastated Eternal forest where they had always lived since the beginning. They inhabited the north-eastern woods of Melwendil, which became an island after the Great Rift. Until now, the Firstborn worship Nuadu and strictly follow his precept – protect any life. The elven Druids heal the wounds of the Earth, caused during the War for the Spear planting new forests and saving the old ones, while the blade dancers and rangers carefully watch the borders of Melwendil for signs of mountain tribes and the undead.

The Council of Twelve, consists of the most eminent fighters and wizards of the Firstborn. The children of Nuadu have kept good-neighbor relations with humans for a long time. However, the elves do not trust humans very much, treating them as younger brothers, although the Firstborn never had and never will attain any other allies in Arinar. There’s an old ongoing rivalry between elves and mountaineers, which has never ceased through the ages. Yet, the undead continue to be the main enemy of the elves. For a long time the Druids of the Council of Twelve have watched the magical fluctuations in the southern part of Arinar with fear – and the wisest of the Firstborn have no doubt that the Forsaken are plotting something.

The Chosen

Spoiler

5U5GJS4.png?1

People, who were given souls from the flames of God Harad, live similar to a fire blazing up brightly and bearing the heat... or sweeping away everything in their way. That was the human tribe that initiated the nation of mountain tribes and undead - like Berengar the first leader of the Mountain Clans and the Damned King Orin who led the Legion by the disposition of Garaan, they all were proud and ambitious people. It’s because of a boundless pride Harad’s children grappled with the Firstborn in the brutal War of Moon and Sun at the dawn of their existence.

After some time, people had concluded an everlasting peace with elves, having become their faithful followers. The thirst for knowledge always drove the minds of Harad’s children — it allowed them to discover the secrets of nature even faster than elves were able to do so, but a short lifetime did not give them time to understand and reflect upon their discoveries - only with age does understanding come, but human life is short. Human persistence fortified by elven wisdom became the foundation of a powerful kingdom created by the Lord Oldris. However, his son Orin had turned the work of his father's life into ashes, succumbed to the call of Garaan and became the Damned King, the initiator of the War for the Spear.

Plenty of people died in that terrible war. In the Last Battle the combined army of elves and humans had survived – Heavenly Brothers had overthrown Garaan; forces of the Legion were dispersed. On the battlefield, Harad named all the participating people the Chosen. After populating one of the islands being formed during the Great Break, they created a powerful state headed by an emperor who is considered as Harad’s viceregent on Earth. The might of the Chosen’s state is based on three posts: fearless and noble Paladins of the Order of Heavenly Light, powerful Mages of the Academy and Priests, the ministers of the Holy Church, whose sincere belief could incinerate enemies.

With the name of Harad on their lips the Chosen reliably protect their borders from barbarian hordes and rare attacks of the undead; they only support peace with elves seeing wise and powerful allies in the children of Nuadu... However, disturbing signs that the reign of present Emperor Kladis will not be as peaceful as that of his predecessors appear more often lately...

Montain Clans

Spoiler

fhTayLI.png?1

The mountain men are rough and fearless. Each of the clans inhabiting the rocky island Godgorrath starts their bloodline from various beast-forefathers. The people of Clans pay disdain and hatred towards those plainsmen. Rare highlanders remember that many centuries ago their ancestors dwelt in plains amongst the humans.
But one day Berengar, a mighty chieftain and sorcerer, left their homelands with his tribe, cursing the arrogant elves and the humans who betrayed him. Berengar’s people inhabited the snowy mountains of Godgorrath and started their lives from scratch. With time their memory evaporated  as they started resembling wild animals, and even their language turned to barking and croaking. The secret legends were passed from shaman to shaman – amongst the wisest highlanders. War craft is the only occupation worth a map –warriors of the mountains, so-called barbarians, are considered as the best fighters in Arinar by right. Those who achieved no military glory preferred to become rogues, betting on their faithful knife and cunning.

During the War for the Spear the highlanders would have raised their weapons against the army of the Damned who intruded onto their lands, but Orin the Damned King wisely decided that the Mountain Clans who hated elves and humans might have become his allies. His decision was correct – the best warriors of the Mountains joined the fearsome Legion. Defeated in the Last Battle, the mountain clans grew quiet for some time. During the Great Breaking, which destroyed the once whole continent, Godgorrath turned into an island surrounded by stormy seas.

The Mountain Clans learned navigation skills quickly enough and started raiding the shores of hated humans and elves. Only the undead Legion, which remains in the memory of the Clans as all-destructive force, inspires respect and desire to co-exist peacefully in Mountain Clans. Moreover, Paramount Chieftain Berkus has got exhorted by the admonition of the Damned, and had dreams about revival of the Legion in its former glory and the new war against the Keepers.

The Forsaken

Spoiler

55d6YNS.png?1

King Orin was the first Forsaken in Arinar who discovered Garaan in his dungeon. The black breath of the Snake destroyed all humanity in Orin without any remainder and then did the same to its subjects, who became humble servants of the Legion. The dark army of the Damned King moved north with the one purpose – after destroying the Guardians, to seize the Spear and to free Garaan. On the edge of the Midnight lands, the Forsaken along with the joined Mountain Clans met in a deadly battle with the army of Guardians. During the battle Garaan managed to escape from his prison and seized the Spear — but in the battle with the Heavenly Brothers it was shattered to myriad fragments.

The Great Break being accomplished through the completed collapse of the Legion — a few surviving Forsaken fled south to the land of Moraktar that was changed beyond recognition by the rampage of elements - after years this island became one of the terrible places of Arinar. In the middle of the dead wood and fetid swamps where the Forsaken had settled, a Gap to the Abyss gaped like a lacerated wound being formed during the Break – from where warlocks and necromancers drew their strength. The Abyss has created many horrible and hideous creatures that inhabited Moraktar.

The seeds of discord quickly sprouted on the island of the Forsaken where the undead, monsters and the generation of the Abyss mercilessly exterminated each other in an endless cycle of war of all against all. Eventually, Dark Lords stood out of the Forsaken and have succeeded to unite supporters around themselves. Six Houses headed by six Lords had extended their power over the entirety of Moraktar. However, internal strife did not come to an end even then - until the day when a mysterious entity of the Unnamed turned up in Moraktar. In some mysterious way he managed to bring all the Dark Lords under his control and he soon became the undivided Lord of Moraktar. Based on his liegemen, the Unnamed proceeded to establish the New Order and to revive the Legion, whose basis was provided by death knights who have no fear and don’t recognize the pain of war.

The flow of more and more slaves had not faded away - Necromancers raised more new servants of the Unnamed while Warlocks perfected their dark spells making them more sophisticated. The hour when Arinar will tremble again under the heavy tread of the Legion is near...

Firstborn

Spoiler

Blade Dancers

Blade Dancers are Elven swordsmen. Due to their long life span, the Firstborn have plenty of time to hone their sword mastery. The crescent-shaped blades pay tribute to Deity Nuadu – the creator of the Firstborn. The four best Blade Dancers are included into the Council of Twelve which rules all the elves in the forests of Melwendil. They perform the most critical missions of the Elven Council. It’s told that a Blade Dancer can even slice a ray of light in two with his sword. Their enemie’s tremble in terror at the sight of these fighters, for no one has ever managed to escape from this hurricane of shining blades, as of yet.

Rangers

Not all the elves have chosen the blades for their primary weapon. The Rangers gave their preference to a bow – as its form resembles a crescent as well. Elven Rangers are so skilled in archery that none of the humans can compete in this art with any Firstborn. A Ranger can strike a target at such a long distance, that sometimes it takes almost an hour to retrieve an arrow. Their marksmanship has become a byword as well. The four best marsksmen amongst the Rangers are included into the Council of Twelve as well, serving the Elven Council as eyes and ears.

Druids

During the span of their long lives, the Druids learn the depths of natural magic. Being mentally intimate with the forest, they can understand the speech of birds, beasts and plants. The Druids use their abilities for the sake of world balance. They do their best to cure the land which has been scarred during the War for the Spear. Although the Druids make formidable foes in battle. Their whisper makes tree roots entangle the feet of enemies, and also send wild beasts to attack and tear apart unlucky highlanders and undeads. The four wisest Druids are members of the Council of Twelve, undertaking the most critical decisions which sometimes affect the fate not of just Melwendil, but whole Arinar itself.

Montain Clans

Spoiler

Barbarians
Barbarians are the mighty warriors of the Mountain Clans, dubbed so for their inhuman strength, beastly rage and ruthlessness in battle which make them truly fearsome enemies. Warriors of the mountains are skilled with all the weapon types but prefer the most heavy and deadly ones which can be used to kill an enemy with a single blow. The most powerful of the Barbarians consider themselves such wild beasts that they become Bersekers – fuming with rage during battle, thus, they feel neither fear nor pain and their might increases. The Barbarians never feel wrong to raid the islands of the Firstborn and Chosen Ones for plunder.

Rogues
No one is born Rogue – it’s established as truth of rogues and assassins who form the bands of the outcasts. They’ve left their own settlements to avoid retribution for their crimes and found refuge amongst deserted rocks and cliffs. They never shrink from pillages and murders, selling the plunder at the fair of the Damned . Venom tipped daggers and arrows are their favorite killing instruments. The Rogues are matchless masters of disguise and the sound of their footsteps in the silence on nocturnal wood is the last thing that merchants who became too reckless have heard in their lives. However, the mountain chieftains tend to view them as an inevitable evil... and often use them for their own nefarious needs.

Shamans

Shamans are the highlanders who have discovered the inner power to control the wilds of nature. The long years spent with a desire to find unity with the world of Spirits has help Shamans to earn the respect and esteem of the mountain people. With the aid of the subdued Spirits of nature, the Shamans easily terrify their enemies. Furthermore, they are capable of healing the most horrible wounds received in battle. Keeping in memory the tales of great chieftains and heroes, the Shamans can cast a glance at the future, shaping their visions as misty prophecies... All these abilities combined make Shamans dreaded opponents in battle and wise teachers during times of peace.

Chosen

Spoiler

Paladins
Paladins are warriors of the Order of Heavenly Light. Not only do they have excellent training and reliable weapons in their arsenal, but God Harad also helps them in battle. His inextinguishable flame is burning in an oil lamp that Paladins receive out of the hands of the emperor on the day of their initiation. Therefore, the undeads are terribly afraid of holy warriors – even highlanders are afraid of Paladins, who devoutly following their own code of honor and protect good and keep justice around Arinar. Clad in heavy armour, with battle hammers at the ready, Paladins strike fear into the hearts of their enemies on the battlefield simply with their appearance. After reading a prayer to Harad in a singing voice, they enter into battle with the name of the Emperor on their lips, without feeling neither pity nor doubt.

Priests
The Priests of the Holy Church have dedicated themselves in service to Harad. They do not spend days and nights conducting exhaustive training, but instead improve their spirit by learning the precepts left by the Fiery-faced God. Therefore, prayers of Priests are never left without an answer – and for such a zealous service Harad provides his servants with the power to perform great miracles. Appealing to Harad, the Priests heal and bless comrades on the battlefield and bring down the wrath of the Sun God upon enemies. There is no force that could break the belief of the Priests - that is their primary and most dangerous weapon. It is only their belief enable the Chosen to be the ones they are.

Mages
Mages are great explorers of the universe. After comprehending the essence of the elements, Mages have learnt to control them by use of difficult spells and sophisticated artifacts. Mages perform most of their experiments in the Academy located outside of time and space – as consequences of their eternal search for the truth could be too devastating. And only once a Mage has learned to possess the forces in full, is he allowed to go to the outside world in order to protect the delicate balance being established in Arinar. However, the art of Mages serves not simply for creation only - in battles it helps the Chosen to tip the scales in their favor time and time again.

Forsaken

Spoiler

Necromancers
Necromancers are magicians and sorcerers, whose souls life has left their body, scorched by black Garaan’s breath without a trace. For many centuries Necromancers turned their black art into an ideal weapon of vengeance upon every living thing. Having learned the secret of Death, Necromancers have returned from its boundaries with great knowledge. Now, they command a truly terrifying force. Nobody is equal to Necromancers in their ability to send pestilence and disease - these wizards have managed to conduct suffering even beyond death, to the service of the Unnamed. The posthumous torments of prisoners of Moraktar feed the Scarlet storm, which reliably protects the island of the Forsaken from the invasion of Guardians.

Warlocks
Formerly, Warlocks were mages tempted by the force and the power, which Garaan had been giving to his servants. After reaching incredible heights in the study of the forbidden dark magic being brought into the world by Garaan, warlocks put this knowledge at the service of the Forsaken. Horrific secrets of black spells have changed warlocks beyond recognition as they lost their human appearance and became strange and terrifying creatures. No one knows which characteristics the Warlocks of Dark Ages have managed to attain during their terrible experiments - many of them were killed during the establishment of the New Order by the Unnamed and took their secrets into  eternal oblivion.

Death Knights
Death Knights were mighty warriors in life, who had fallen in battle and then were resurrected by Necromancers. Anyone who received such a fate had to restore war fighting kills as well as part of their memory in the ominous House of Fury, a fortress standing next to the bottomless gap of the Abyss of Moraktar. Knowing no fear and pain, dark warriors are obsessed with their only purpose, which is to destroy all life, because hate is the only feeling left after death. Their blades become red from the blood of enemies when they are forcing the way onto the battlefield, adding steel to the cohorts of the Legion. Very few people could stand against the Darkness itself, which protects the Death Knights.

Aha, I nearly forgot I was supposed to add the other storylines after being gifted with the extra info!

CANON

In the forskaen map you actually have a number of origin storys to choose from at T3, but what reamins is that you were betrayed by Kevin, paladin scum.

Because of this your soul couldn't rest or something? and you wound up on Moraktar. As you have no money to pay your passage, you need to earn it by doing quests, so that you might be set free.

A lot of your time is also spent searching for clues about your past, who you were and what you did.

In T2 an interesting story about Glad (who is your master/ you are his slave), how he was murdered and stuff like that.

Also, the One with No Name is a dictator of the lands of Moraktar. You serve in the army for a bit, and help get rid of elven/chosen scum who jave managed to infiltrate the land's magical borders.

The story of the forsaken lands is probably the most interesting and most complex of all the starting islands, so maybe some others can help me fill in the blanks here?

Also, I have never completed Lanasgard so if somebody wants to give the synopsis for it?

AND (so many asks from me to ppl in general😂) I think it would be cool for some Median night stories for the season, both the storylines of past events and any cool quests or experiences you had)

Oíche Shamhna shona daoibh!
