GeoGG 7 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Chieftain is one the most fun and useful class on the MC side. It is a hybrid class being able to play it Physical and Magical damage dealer. In this guide I will show you which weapons and gear to use, the best skills, and talents to pick. Now unfortunately I am not the strongest chieftain player ever, so feel free to disagree or ask other players for guidance. Some of the best gears are also seasonal, meaning you might not see this equipment depending on the time you are playing. Also, this class doesn`t have much self-healing ever since they nerfed bear endurance, so this class relies heavily on Vamp runes, (life steal). Luckily it works with your spells, so the more AOE you do the more HP you recover. Now there are 3 main ways of playing chieftain: Physical, Magical, Hybrid. Here are the strengths and weaknesses of each. Physical: is good against single targets, bosses, even in PvP. However, its weak in doing AOE DMG and doesn`t have any selfheal. Bear endurance only scales with magic. Magical: Its obviously the opposite, Good if not the best AOE dmg in mc side, It does OK against bosses its slower DPS. Hybrid: its combines both sides, so it`s does Pretty good AOE and Single targets as well. But it doesn't excel in either. Now which one I recommend? I personally like magic or hybrid, AOE damage is way too convenient for me, much easier to survive in most scenarios. However, if I'm fighting bosses I`ll switch to physical gear. Also, another thing to note is that building magic, or hybrid is far cheaper then physic gear, It also varies heavily which time you decide to level a chieftain. So go hybrid first you won`t regret it. But the most popular playstyle is Physic. One thing I want to touch on before the builds is how chieftain works. Chieftain has multiple expert skills that gives him better stats. which are: Cat reflexes: gives crit and accuracy. I recommend having it on 1/4 on all builds. Clan support: gives crit, penetration, and armour. Max on all builds. Bestial wrath: gives about penetration if you wear cloth or attack speed attack speed if you wear light. I will assume you have 20 skill points on every build, which are obtainable if you are lvl 34. You can get another 3 points from talents. I would put them possibly on rugged hide. When building chieftain you can skip weapons, accessories, and enchants that has crit. because Wildlife ferocity doubles your clan support skill giving you 36% crit. You also have 5% base crit. With this you already have 41% crit naked. Talents are not easy to unlock, It might take months, if not a year or two. Depends how much you play and on a daily basis. Since there is a daily cap on knowledge you can earn. ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── Physical Chieftain Guide Spoiler Physical Chieftain Weapons Spoiler Physic chieftain. Let`s start with physic chieftain weapons. Only weapons you want to use is physical maces. Although chieftain can use spears, it`s very good since physic chieftain relies on attack speed build. It is possible to play physic chief with a cd build, but in my opinion the skills doesn`t scale that well with physic only. I recommend dodge as a rune enchantment. With cat reflexes it will increase your accuracy if you manage to dodge. Ideally you want to look for lvl 34 which is more expensive and only slightly better than the level 32. Best weapons spring maces Now you can choose which one you prefer: Personally I recommend one of each or have 2 of the attack speed ones. These are quite expensive so if you are on a budget try buying the level 32 version of these weapons. This weapon can be obtained during Spring Easter event. Strong alternatives This is what is called crafted weapons. This gives the highest physical base stat for the mace. Some people prefer these when they want to maximise their physical damage. These also can be quite expensive to get. If you go for these, I don`t recommend the level 32 version, simply because the only advantage of this weapon is the higher base stat. I would pick the one of the right sides with penetration over parry. You can put parry runes on the weapons anyway. This weapon can be obtained any time of the year. Double stat crafted spring weapons, These are also very expensive to get because it`s only viable to craft during the annual spring event which happens around easter. I would recommend the right one with double penetration, I don`t recommend the left one with double crit since chieftain has clan support and cat reflexes you get 40% free, and the maximum crit you can achieve is 50%. Now the only scenario where you could go for double crit or crit accessories is that if you don`t want to go for the Wildlife ferocity talent, so you could go for other talent and thus you would need more crit. This weapon can be obtained during Spring Easter event. Horror Mace Now this isn`t the best weapon out there, but it can be a good starting one. It has vamp 3% on it and having 2 would give you 6%. Chieftain needs vamp stat at least 15% to survive. so having 1/3rd coming from your weapon means you can save some gold on vamp runes. I would have these temporarily and then replace them during spring. Also, I haven't touched on the stun maces. They are very niche, only used for perma stunning. This weapon can be obtained during Horror event around Halloween. Snow Maces Snow mace, main gimmick having rage. Rage increases your physical and magical damage by 10%. Having more rage just means you are more likely to trigger this buff. I would go for the right one once again, Extra Accuracy is not bad, but you don`t need much crit either way. This can only be obtained during Snow event around Christmas. Physical Chieftain Armours Spoiler Now there are infinite possibilities and combination around light armour that can go for millions of golds, so I will assume that you are a new player and will go for somewhat of a budget gear as well. Here is what I would go for, if I made a brand-new chieftain. The Level 30 T5 Castle set Now why would I recommend going for the level 30 version over the level 32 one. Simply its because level 32 is only slightly better but usually it`s much more expensive to buy. Other than the armour stat its only 0.3% better stats on the level 32 set. This set is perfectly fine and some strong players still wearing these ones. Now it`s still a very expensive set of armour and especially the belts that can go for hundreds of thousands of golds, mainly because every light armour wearing class is looking for attack speed as the main stat. You can also go for craft belt for more hp, but attack speed is just better. For the armour you don`t have to go for the highest level, so try to look for a lower level if it doesn`t fit your budget. Level 30 T5 Castle accuracy set This is very similar to the first set but also much cheaper, mainly is because cooldown reduction is better than accuracy. However, it shares the main 8% physical dmg boost stat. So, it`s still pretty good. Attack speed scout set This is not my favourite choice since it lacks the much better 8% dmg boost stat, however this is much easier to obtain since it can drop anytime. Mainly because the first 2 set of armour drops from the 5th Sea Castle and only opens to the public every 5 weeks. Unless you are in the guild that controls that castle. This set has lower-level version if you looking to save gold. MM armour set Not much to say about MM, If you can afford it then you already know what it does. Obviously, it`s the best armour for any auto attack build, both sets have roughly identical stats. 2 pieces is enough for the first set bonus, no need to get all 4 in my opinion. If you don`t know these armour pieces cost millions of golds. It`s not for beginners. Physical Chieftain Accessories Spoiler Capes In my opinion, the best cape would be horror cape with 7% dmg boost with attack speed, but any physical dmg and attack speed cape will do the job. Most people will go for a crit enchantment here, but I think its unnecessary with chieftain high crit passives. Also, here you can use a Vamp rune. Probably the most important enchant. Horror capes also gives 4% extra vamp which can come very useful. Now if you can`t find attack speed cape or necklace, you can go for any stat you wish for. There is no Spring version of the cape that has attack speed. Necklaces Necklaces with attack speed is the best ones in my opinion. Possibly either the horror with 9% physic boost or the spring one with attack strength. Snow event doesn`t have a variant of it I think. Bracelets Now I am showing budget bracelets accessories, Normally the meta is going for crit strength bracelets and rings (which you can see on the down right corner of the image). Also, generally with bracelets you go for crit and rings you go for accuracy. I skipped crit bracelets, since you don`t need any extra crit with chieftain. If you go with mana regen then you can pick cd on the bracelet as an enchant or penetration on the rings, as long as you have around 100 mana regen. Rings Rings predictably you want to go for anything with physical dmg and accuracy. These are fairly cheap and easy to obtain. Alma Rings and Bracelets As for the last and not because I forgot about it. The Meta bracelet and rings. These Rings and Bracelets are the most expensive items you can use. Crit strength increases the crit damage you do which is pretty good, Also the new skill power version which has purple icon starts to become popular. Physic Skills and Talents Spoiler Skills Obviously if you have a keen eye, I put 2 points into eagle eye that is mostly magic ability. However, it can cause bleeding which only scales with physical damage. With this you have a small AoE as a physic chief. In my opinion clan support is best skill for chieftain, so its maxed ofc. You don`t need cat reflexes that much, in fact you can have it on 1 star and put points into rugged hide. Bestial wrath is also very important It`s the skill that will give you a ton of attack speed. Lastly, frenzy is max too because each level gives you and extra attack, and it also scales with physical damage. If you just starting which one to buy first? Frenzy, clan support, cat reflexes, bestial wrath. Talents This is my personal favourite is Wildlife ferocity, it doubles the buff that clan support gives which are extra crit, penetration, and extra armour. The other 2 is more pvp related in my opinion. The teleport rat skill is very use full if you do lab. Talent Path It`s the left side of the talent tree, It focuses heavily on auto attack damage. Therefore it`s best to get as much auto attack speed on your chieftain if you decide to go with physical. This replaces Bestial wrath with Enragement. So, no matter what armour you wear, you will always get the attack speed and penetration that you would have only gotten if you were wearing cloth armour. ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── Magical Chieftain Guide Spoiler Magic Chieftain Weapons Spoiler Magic Chieftain uses 2 hand maces that has magic as a primary stat. Let`s start which I consider the best 2h mace at this moment. I recommend dodge as a rune enchantment. With cat reflexes it will increase your accuracy if you manage to dodge. Double CD spring crafted mace I think 17.6% Cooldown reduction is very strong choice for spamming AoE skills to deal as much damage as possible. Strong AoE is very niche is most cases, but in some dungeons it`s needed. Also dealing AoE damage combined with Vamp runes heals you. In fact, that is the only way you can survive in dungeons. Downside is this is very expensive to get. You can save money on this if you ask a weapon crafter to commission this. Spring 2 Hand Mace Much more common drop. Shouldn`t be an issue to find this one. It`s a very strong option for magic chieftains. It`s obtainable during the spring event around easter. Possible that some players hold on to this weapon, so you can buy it from them. Other event 2 hand maces For those who like Rage or Vamp. You can keep the snow rage 2 hand mace as a permanent if you like rage. However, the horror mace I purely recommend as a starter weapon. You can save some gold on vamp runes if you already have a strong start on the vamp stat. Craft 2 hand mace Crafted Mace gives the highest magic damage. Although you don`t need this much crit as a chief, the CD is still pretty good. It is somewhat expensive, since it is a craft one. Use this one if you are looking for more magic damage. Magic Chieftain Armours Spoiler Magic Chiefs use cloth armour and a lot of cd related items to spam abilities to do more dmg. Level 30-32 castle CD Magic Enchanter set This set comes in level 32-30. Set bonus with extra CD and 12% magic. This is one of the most expensive gear you can get. Also, it`s might be hard to find since it only drops from the 5th sea castle that opens every 5 weeks. For the belt I recommend the craft belt that gives 15% hp. That belt might be too expensive too so try something cheaper. I would look for magic and CD. level 32 Chanter Set This is more of a budget set, or if you can`t find the castle set being so rare. Main difference is that it gives about 60 magic dmg instead of being a percentage. It has a lot of CD, so it`s a good alternative. This is the only 2 set I can truly recommend. Obviously, there are more armour sets. However, they are mostly event one like snow or horror event. MM set I`m not going to touch on MM sets too much since It is very self-explanatory. If you can afford it get 2 pieces for magic or hybrid builds, go for it. Magic Chief Accessories Spoiler Capes Best one would be the craft cape on the top left corner. It is somewhat affordable. I would go with mana regen with the cape. You will need at least 100 mana regen to be able to spam abilities and not run out of mana. Neck I like penetration on neck but feel free to pick any magic necklace you fancy. If there were more options, I would probably try to find a CD neck. Bracelets For every other character you would want to get crit bracelets. However, for chieftain you can focus on CD or Mana Regen. If you have around 110 mana regen by idle, then you can put CD enchants on the bracelets. Best ring would possibly be with crit strength ones for bracelets and rings. Rings Rings with accuracy is are good choice, but if you feel like you would rather go for more CD is understandable. Like even without accuracy rings, you can still get around 20% accuracy just from enchants and cat reflex ability. That`s usually what other classes have with accuracy rings. Especially where Magic chieftain skills are lots of small AOE so you won`t miss attacks that often. Best in game option This ability power if fairly new stat in the game. I have no experience with these accessories. But the strongest chiefs all use them. It`s more expensive than the crit strength ones, so in other word. It`s not for starters Skills and Talents Spoiler Skill Points Clan support is most important in my opinion. Whole build relies on 2 main abilities, eagle eye and swooping army. Didn`t put point into rugged hide or bear endurance, is because you are healing with vamp runes. It`s not that good against single targets like bosses. So, if you have enough CD and you time your AOE abilities correctly, then you won`t die in situations where most classes would be one-shot. I would buy the skills in this order: Swooping army, Clan support, Cat reflexes, Bestial wrath. Extra skill points you earn from talents, I would put them into either rugged hide or blow of spirits. Talents Once again you go with Wildlife ferocity for insane amount of free stats. Only time you would go with beast cunning if you have enough crit on your own and would prefer to do PvP. Talent path You go with the right path in the talent tree. Replacing swooping army with ignition. doing even more AOE Magic Damage. Elusive claws giving you extra 40% CD in combat. The more AoE abilities you can spam the more likely for you to survive in harder dungeons. ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── Hybrid Chieftain Guide Spoiler Hybrid Chieftain is pretty much same as Magic Chieftain but with a few differences. Mainly the weapons are different, and probably the skills. This style has good AoE and decent against bosses. Tt`s kind of a jack of all traits master of none. Now I am going to show examples of weapons but for this you can have them anywhere in your hands. Due to Warspear having a main hand and offhand mechanic. your strongest physical mace should go in your right hand and magic mace should go in your left, which looking at the character menu should be the opposite. Hybrid Chieftain Weapons Spoiler Spring Weapons Once again, Spring weapons are the best, you should have magic enchants on both and have the physic one in your first hand. Also feel free to experiment with weapons. On hybrid you can have endless possibilities. like having 2 physic mace or physic enchants. Best Off Hand Best off hand mace in my opinion. It`s pretty hard to obtain since it`s only can be crafted during the annual spring event. Also, it`s not that sought after, Since most chieftains prefer to play physic chieftain. Crafted Maces Crafted weapons have pretty good stats too, but it`s also a solid choice. Snow Maces Rage is also fan favourite to go. Personally, not my favourite, but feel free to pick these or swap between the choices on top. You can mis match these anyway to your liking. Horror Maces Horror mace is only good for a newbie. Don`t recommend these for long term. Just till you can find a replacement for these. Early life steal is also very good if you can`t afford your vamp runes yet. Armours Spoiler It might be a bit boring but it`s pretty much the same as magic chieftain. So I`ll think I will just copy paste this. (Skip if you already read magic chief) Level 30-32 castle CD Magic Enchanter set This set comes in level 32-30. MM set I`m not going to touch on MM sets too much since It is very self-explanatory. If you can afford it get 2 pieces for magic or hybrid builds, go for it. Accessories Spoiler Pretty much the same as magic chief. Capes Best one would be the craft cape on the top left corner. Especially where Magic chieftain skills are lots of overtime AOE so you can won`t miss attacks that often. Best in game option. This ability power if fairly new stat in the game. I have no experience with these accessories. But the strongest chiefs all use them. It`s more expensive than the crit strength ones, so in other word. It`s not for starters Skills and Talents Spoiler Skills When you unlock more skill points from talents, I would put it into bestial wrath or blow of the spirits. Clan support is super op, ignition and eagle eye does most of the AOE dmg. Frenzy and Blow of the spirits hits pretty hard against single targets too. I would start with buying skills first as Frenzy, swooping army, Clan support, Cat reflexes, and Rugged hide. Talent Clan support is with Wildlife Ferocity is just simply too good compered to the other talents. This talent doubles what Clan support does and with cat reflex active, you can have around 40% crit without wearing anything yet. Super strong early on. Talent Path Same path as magic, CD is still the king in chieftain builds. With hybrid you have slightly less magic dmg then full magic, but you have a lot more physical dmg. Almost all new chieftain player will build magic or hybrid. It`s because it`s good and cheap. Ignition is going to deal a lot of magic damage and Elusive claws will give you 40% extra CD. Making you be able to spam your AoE abilities. (Technically you could go middle path with hybrid, since it would replace your eagle eye with a bleed version of it, and it would also increase your damage as well. I still think that more CD is better overall.) Once you play the game long enough, you will know what class can do, and what type of gear is the best. Most important part of this guide is the Skills. I had a lot of newer chief players ask me about what skills to pick, and it is my personal experience and what other players told me that these are the best skills to put points to at this moment. There is just a ton of equipment in this game that is valid and useable, that I didn`t mention in this guide. Otherwise, this guide would be way too long. This guide is written by Geogg Eu-emerald for the 2026 guide contest event class guide section. (I re wrote this like 3 times because of broken image links.) Chielo 1 Quote
