Full Cata Light Set Feedback

Hi, I wanted to share some feedback on the full Cata set after finally completing it and using it for 2 months.

First off, I’m not trying to be negative — I know this is endgame content and likely still being evaluated — but after spending a long time acquiring the full set, the current performance feels underwhelming compared to expectations.

Since the set is extremely rare, there isn’t much feedback yet. From what I’ve seen on EU, only a couple of players (including myself) are currently using the full set, so I thought it might be useful to share some early impressions. I have had it for about 2-3 months now and have not seen any changes or improvements hence the post here.


🔹 General Concerns

  • The set currently feels weaker than other available gear, particularly due to lower resilience and HP.
  • For something this rare and difficult to obtain, it doesn’t feel like it offers a meaningful advantage or unique identity.

🔹 Skill Design Issues

  • First bonus skill:
    The stack requirement makes it difficult to use effectively in PvP. In most situations, you won’t have time to build stacks before engaging another player.
    → A possible improvement could be making this an active ability or a short-duration buff (similar to Inspiration).
  • Final skill:
    It appears inconsistent and doesn’t trigger reliably in practice.

🔹 PvP Performance

  • In its current state, the set feels like a disadvantage in PvP rather than a reward.
  • The weaker classes can't use heavy mm to cover surviability.
  • The execution mechanic being resistible/blockable/parryable/dodgeable makes it unreliable, especially considering this is endgame gear.

🔹 Visual / Identity Feedback

  • It would be great if the set had a unique aura or visual effect to help it stand out, given its rarity.

🔹 Overall Impression

Right now, instead of feeling like a powerful endgame set, it feels like a downgrade in many situations. Some players are even opting to use only partial pieces rather than the full set.

Ideally, when encountering a player with this set, it should feel impactful or at least competitive — not something that puts the user at a disadvantage.


🔹 Closing Thoughts

I really like the idea behind the set, and I’m hoping it can be adjusted to better match its rarity and effort required to obtain it. I’d appreciate it if this could be reviewed with an open mind, as there’s definitely potential here.

The full cloth set of catacombs gear is equally bad if not more.

The debuff from the skill isn't strong enough to sacrifice the resilience and HP to use effectively anywhere.

 

Also the debuff will be easily removed in most cases and the cooldown is too long.

Unfortunately the 2nd skill of all 3 sets seem to be bad, I have spent over 40m gold to get the full light set but the guillotine skill is just inconsistent even after the big fixes therefore I chose not to use full set anymore. I would suggest to revise the gears and make them worthwhile for the end game content.

Devs don't want you to use the full set, I think they didn't even intended it due to such bugs in light set skill. Both in mm and cata gear second skills are garbage, and as long as there is mm gear devs do nothing with it, so I suppose they will do nothing with cata gear either. I have only one question, why do they add the second skill to all these sets if it is not to be used? Let such sets be only with the first skill not to fool everyone to buy the full set

The reason you dont kill the shaman with it even when he is low enough hp is because of the talent he is using (see the ball rotating him). It prevents death one time and heals a little but has a long cooldown. Similarly how druid Halo skill works.

Its just real terrible, from what has been shown in the video. But from my point of view, that catacomb gear set is not supposed to be that expensive tbh. Some people are just fomo and buy the set for a big amount of gold. Though i agree this clearly need a rework
