Sorcerers and Sorceresses of Arinar!

The School of Magic on the Blissful Isle is opening its gates once more to welcome students from across Arinar! A new term begins, bringing long-awaited reunions with old friends, hands-on lessons in the magical arts, and daring journeys through portals to unknown worlds!

And yet, why are the latest pages of the Herald of the Blissful Isle brimming with alarming headlines?

HERALD OF THE BLISSFUL ISLE
(Special Issue)

THE STARS ARE CLOSING IN
The beginning of the academic year has, as tradition would have it, been marked by a string of peculiar happenings. The most astonishing of all is the sudden appearance of star-torn rifts scattered across the Blissful Isle. An entire constellation of distinguished scholars – among them the prominent Elion Moonsage, Professor Cyrus, and Professor L'Etoile – are working tirelessly to uncover the nature of this phenomenon. At their request, we publish the following advisory for our readers: Do not attempt to seal a star-torn rift on your own. Do not look into a rift out of curiosity. The editorial board of the Herald trusts in the good judgment and prudence of the Isle's residents.

A MATTER OF MEMORY
As winter finally loosens its grip, it leaves behind another, far less welcome surprise: a growing number of students and faculty have begun reporting troubling lapses in memory. The esteemed Dr Echin Acea has kindly offered guidance to our readers. His primary recommendation is a restorative course of Memorax, memory-strengthening tablets of his own formulation. Simple mental exercises may also prove helpful. For example, try picturing the image of a friend – or even a neighbor – and describe their appearance in precise detail, leaving nothing out. And above all, remember this: never hesitate to ask for help if you sense that matters are taking an unsettling or even frightening turn.

SCHOOL LIFE
The star-torn rifts have sparked what some wry observers are calling a case of "star fever" among the students. The term refers to the sudden craze, particularly among the School's young ladies, for horoscopes. Experts warn that attempts to divine the future from the alignment of stars and heavenly bodies can yield unpredictable – and sometimes regrettable – consequences. For this reason, astrology has recently been removed from the official curriculum. Still, as everyone knows, forbidden fruit is the sweetest.

STAY ALERT
The Royal Wardens, together with the editorial board of the Herald, urge all citizens to remain vigilant. Report without delay any suspicious individuals or unexplained incidents that could point to sabotage, unrest, or treachery in the making!

Holiday Quests

With the coming of spring, something unsettling has begun to stir on the Blissful Isle... The once-thriving academy of Wickedora no longer feels like itself. Both professors and students appear as if something has been taken from them. Could the mysterious anomalies surfacing across the Isle be the cause? That mystery now falls to you! To face what lies ahead, the curriculum has been expanded with two new arcane disciplines: Star Magic and Oblivion Magic. Prepare for your four-semester journey, packed with basic and advanced courses, complete with trials and exams. You'll need diligence and focus, because those who successfully pass their exams will unlock unique new abilities and the chance to breach the enemy's lair itself!

Reputation: Magisters of Stars and Oblivion

To qualify for trials and exams, you'll need to earn a certain amount of reputation with the Magisters of Stars and Oblivion. The School's most guarded knowledge is reserved for those who prove their dedication! Build your reputation by braving solo dungeons, completing daily and dynamic quests, and defeating world bosses throughout Arinar. Keep in mind that reputation earned in dungeons is capped at 600 points per day, with a total maximum of 15,000 points per student.

With each semester you successfully complete, you'll unlock new perks and benefits! And those who see their studies through to the very end will unlock a special skill granting access to the Reputation Exchange Shop. There, Magister Avaris will offer an array of exclusive goods, including character experience, Knowledge, spring event currency, crafting experience, and even reputation with all factions of Arinar.

Weekly Guild Tournament: Spring King's Tournament

Rally your allies and face off against the guilds of Arinar for a chance to claim valuable rewards! All guilds level 2 and above are invited to compete for supremacy. At the start of each tournament week, every guild is placed into a division based solely on its level, regardless of Alliance affiliation. From there, you'll compete within your division to earn the highest amount of Magic Grains.

Portal Territory: Nightfall Camp

The Nightfall Camp lies shrouded in thick darkness, pierced only by the restless glow of scattered campfires... In the wavering firelight, Vesperian's followers whisper their spells, preparing to strike at the School of Magic in the dead of night. But the stars are not always indifferent. Those who fully master Star Magic will earn a powerful ally in the heavens themselves and unlock the Star Portal skill, allowing them to open a gateway to the Nightfall Camp from anywhere on the Isle. With its help, you can take the fight to the enemy before their plans come to fruition.

Remember, your time in the Nightfall Camp is limited – keep an eye on your personal timer at the top of the screen. Also note that Respawn Statues are unavailable within the Nightfall Camp, and guild teleportation is inactive in this area. If you want to return to the Blissful Isle early, you can do so by using the return portal without waiting for the timer to expire.

Dynamic Quests

The Nightfall Camp swarms with Vesperian's loathsome minions, each one eager to see the School of Magic fall. Witches, warlocks, wights, and sorcerers all stand ready to spill the blood of aspiring mages – but crossing paths with you will be their last mistake. As you explore the portal zone, remember that the dynamic level-scaling mechanic is in effect. You'll know when it's active by the color change of your level indicator on your character widget and equipment slots, a special icon to the right of your character widget, and an on-screen tooltip when you enter an affected area.

image.gif

Purge the Nightfall Camp of wizards and warlocks, disrupt dark covens, scatter enemy patrols, smash suspicious chests, cleanse twisted trees, and face off against powerful bosses: Bulwark Sentinel, Witch Peruere, and All-Seeing Calaton! The dynamic quests The Cauldron Circle and Bright and Early, Guards! alternate daily. The same rotation applies to the bosses Witch Peruere and All-Seeing Calaton. All other quests, including the encounter with the Bulwark Sentinel, will reset every 24 hours.

Solo Dungeons: Stargazer's Tower

There are dangers in staring too long at the stars... especially when you begin to believe they are staring back! Stargazer Kepler has succumbed to their pull. His mind has unraveled, and with it, the laws of gravity inside his tower – floors split apart into open void, and furniture drifts weightlessly through the air. To confront the master of this observatory, you must complete any four of the tower's challenge chambers and return to the entrance hall, where a portal will appear, leading you straight to the boss!

Once a reclusive mage who rarely descended from his tower, Kepler swore allegiance to Vesperian when the Dark Mage's power began to rise. Over the years, he perfected his command of star anomalies, unleashing them across the Blissful Isle. So long as the stargazer lives, Vesperian's forces will have the upper hand!

image.gif

At the start of your journey, you may choose from one of five portals, each leading to an astral chamber filled with deadly traps and the stargazer's minions. Successfully clearing a chamber grants you a special role-based enhancement tailored to tanking, damage dealing, healing, or mobility. Completing these chambers also unlocks access to an additional room, where you can amplify your chosen bonus even further.

These upgrades will disappear when you enter the boss room, but they will have consequences. Every bonus you obtain will significantly reduce Kepler's health before the battle begins. However, power never comes without a price. For each enhancement you claim, Kepler gains an additional deadly ability. Choosing your path – and your strategy – will be crucial. There is no time limit within the tower, so feel free to explore at your own pace!

Within the boss chamber, four treasuries await – one for each semester of Star and Oblivion Magic – available only to those who have completed their full course of study.

World Event: Cosmic Turmoil

The mystery behind the countless star-torn rifts threatening to swallow the Blissful Isle has finally been unraveled! The School of Magic is already under siege – now is the time to stand together and stop Vesperian's forces from tearing the island apart!

Stage I: Starfall Surge
Vesperian's followers are recklessly abusing Star Magic, ripping open star-torn rifts and unleashing waves of hostile creatures onto the School's grounds. But their understanding is flawed: every rift is inherently unstable and will eventually collapse on its own. Hold the line against the relentless star fiends until the rift seals itself!

image.gif

Stage II: Basilisk Breakout
With the School weakened, several dark mages have unleashed deadly basilisks within its walls. Defeating these venomous beasts will be no simple task, as they are protected by powerful wards cast by their summoners lurking nearby. Track down the hidden spellcasters and break their enchantments if you hope to bring the basilisks down.

Stage III: You Shall Not Pass!
An ancient rune-carving golem has been brought from distant lands to serve Vesperian's cause. If it completes the rift rune it is etching into the earth, a devastating explosion will shatter the School's protective barrier. Stop the construct before the final stroke is carved!

Stage IV: Boundless Galacticus
The uncontrolled surge of Star Magic has drawn the attention of Boundless Galacticus, a being of overwhelming power, capable of devouring entire worlds like a living black hole. Defeat him, and you will safeguard not only the Blissful Isle, but the fate of all Arinar.

image.gif

Guild Event in a GvG Area: Starfall Conflict

Uninvited horrors pour into Arinar from the star-torn rifts, bringing with them the frostbitten breath of distant realms, chaos, and ruin. Now, the guilds must prove they can withstand the onslaught of creatures spilling from the fractures! The Ethereal Expanse awaits, and the sky above it has already cracked wide!

Star Magic is as alluring as it is treacherous, beckoning far too many unwelcome visitors from other realms. Now, the guilds of Arinar must stand ready to challenge one another and drive back the swelling ranks of Vesperian's newly risen stellar servants. There will be no respite! An unending horde of monsters spills forth from the star-torn rifts, while even deadlier foes lurk deeper within enigmatic vaults. Only by seizing the keys and harnessing the strange energies left behind by these otherworldly creatures can you breach their depths. Defeat monsters and clash with rival guilds to earn as many points as possible and claim supremacy!

image.png

The most perilous rifts in the Ethereal Expanse are yet to be revealed. At the heart of the expanse lies the Radiant Key, capable of unlocking one of two Ethereal Locks located on opposite edges of the map. Protect the hero who picks up the key at all costs – while carrying it, they are completely defenseless against enemy attacks! When the key is placed in a lock, your guild will open a rift leading to the boss, the Celestial Blademaster. His blade gleams with the cold gleam of alien worlds, but defeating him is only part of the challenge. Once he falls, your guild must leave the area swiftly – stay for too long, and your ranks will begin to thin!

The Radiant Key respawns three minutes after the Celestial Blademaster is defeated, allowing each guild to have a turn to confront him.

image.gif

But the trials don't end there! Scattered across the event area stand the Constellation Gates. These portals require no key, only the blood of the Rift Wardens who guard the land. Kill the wardens to unlock a path to the Starfeaster, a ravenous abomination born of the rifts. Destroy it – but once again, do not delay after its death! The Constellation Gates will reopen two minutes after the Starfeaster is killed.

As you drive back Vesperian's forces, do not forget the rifts themselves! Defeating Rift Wardens will seal active star-torn rifts and earn valuable points for your guild. But beware: new rifts will continue to appear throughout the battle!

To successfully complete the event, your guild must earn 1,000 points by completing various activities:

  • Kill the monster Spitebloom – 1 points
  • Kill an enemy player – 10 points
  • Kill the monster Rift Warden – 3 points
  • Kill the mini-boss Starfeaster – 120 points
  • Kill the boss Celestial Blademaster – 350 points
  • Activate the Ethereal Lock – 400 points

Remember, this is an elimination event, so once a guild reaches the target score, it will leave the battlefield.

Instanced Area Guild Event: Moonlit Whispers

Deep within the halls of Wickedora's school lie many secluded chambers where the laws of reality bend and fracture. The Lunar Lecture Hall has become one such place. Beneath its pale arches, horrors from the star-torn rifts now prowl, and at their center stands the Moonborn Prince, who seeks to seize the magic of the Blissful Isle for himself. To purge the invaders from the School of Magic, your guild must complete two stages of challenges before time runs out!

Stage I: Lunar Call
Chaos has erupted within the School! The eastern wing has been overrun by foul creatures spilling through star-torn rifts. Somewhere within its hallways roams the Moonborn Prince, an outcast of the Firstborn driven by a single purpose: to bring the School to ruin and claim the magic of the Blissful Isle for himself. To track him down, you must first find the moon beacon. Its glow alone can reveal the Prince's hidden lair!

But beware: in the Lunar Lecture Hall, even fallen enemies do not fade away. Their spectral echoes leave behind and rise to fight once more. Battle your way through swarms, find the Moon Beacon, claim its charge, and carry this power through the twisting hallways. Along the way, you must also defeat the Starbreaker, who guards the path to the Prince. When all three trials are complete, a portal to the second stage will open.

As you advance, watch out for Focusing Crystals scattered throughout the corridors. Activating them will weaken the Moonborn Prince before the final battle begins.

Stage II: Moonborn Prince
The Moonborn Prince will not go down easily! He commands a host of devastating abilities, and his cunning servants will fight to their last breath to ensure their master's survival!

Even weakened, the Moonborn Prince fights with ruthless determination, calling down lightning with unerring precision and unleashing swift strikes with relentless fury!

image.gif

Competitive Guild Raid: Deadly Blossom

Vesperian's schemes have clearly stirred the Blightbloom, one of the foulest denizens of the wilds, and it is ready to challenge the heroes of Arinar once again! In the new season of Competitive Guild Raids, you'll face this monstrous plant across 15 difficulty levels.

Creatures from the Misty Woods have been invading the Blissful Isle with alarming frequency, and the Blightbloom stands among the most fearsome of them. Rooted in tainted soil and nourished by corruption and gloom alone, it has grown into a colossal, venomous abomination that spreads decay wherever it takes hold. Commanding twisted plants as rotten as itself, the Blightbloom will not fall easily – to purge this festering evil from the Isle, the heroes of Arinar must fight with everything they have!

image.gif

As before, your greatest aid in surviving the wrath of these furious plantspawn is Magic Pollen, which empowers all who breathe it in! With Update 13.3, killing the Forest Heart will grant increased amounts of pollen. The Blightbloom, however, has adapted – in this new raid season, both the creature itself and its wicked stems will be even more resilient.

World Bosses

Archmage Taris and Vesperian will stop at nothing to bring the mages of Arinar to their knees. Now, it is your turn to answer their challenge and prove that your years at the School of Magic were not in vain! At the outset of battle, do not be discouraged – your attacks will barely wound these sorcerers at first. Powerful dark wards shield them from harm, but as the seconds tick by, their protection will begin to weaken, creating an opening for the decisive strike!

Archmage Taris

Only those who have fully completed the Star Magic course will be able to challenge Archmage Taris. In battle, Taris wields Oblivion Magic, sapping the strength of his opponents and clouding their minds.

Once a revered master of Oblivion Magic, Archmage Tarris became consumed by his obsession with unlocking the mind's deepest secrets. In his relentless pursuit of forbidden knowledge, he crossed a line from which there was no return. Casting aside his post at the School, he turned to Vesperian, convinced that only the Dark Mage could help him explore the furthest reaches of consciousness. Thus began his descent into treachery...

image.gif

Vesperian

Now comes the ultimate trial, available only to those who have mastered both Star Magic and Oblivion Magic! Though he has fallen to the heroes of Arinar before, each defeat has only hardened his resolve. Year after year, he has reclaimed his dreadful form, growing ever stronger!

Vesperian was once the most powerful dark mage of his age. Once defeated and stripped of his physical form, he retreated into the shadows, patiently rebuilding his strength and weaving schemes to bring about the downfall of the School of Magic. Despite his obsession with the purity of wizarding bloodlines, his hidden ranks continued to swell. Now, only one final step remains: to uncover a secret weapon concealed within the School itself. Never has he stood so close to triumph...

image.gif

Long ago, the Vesperian lineage was granted immense magical power by three Emerald Serpents, ancient beings akin to the Jakkars. Vesperian inherited a fragment of that forbidden legacy, and in battle, he will unleash the full cunning and wrath of serpent magic. As his strength begins to fade, that serpentine inheritance will awaken with increasing ferocity. Do not allow the ancient gift to seize control of your mind. Bring Vesperian down before his magic consumes the Blissful Isle entirely!

Holiday Skill

For the duration of the Spring King Celebration only, all heroes of Arinar will be able to wield a unique holiday skill! Keep in mind that this skill cannot be used in the Starfall Conflict and Mermen Trials events, raids, sieges, Arenas, or the Catacombs.

image.png Mandrake's Aid (Active Skill)
The Mandrake is a notoriously ill-tempered root whose piercing screech can rattle even the bravest soul. It will gladly unleash its fury upon your enemies if it means being left alone afterward.

Adjustments to Skill and Talent Targeting Mechanics

We continue to refine the distinction between PvP and PvE gameplay. In Update 13.3, we're making significant changes to how skills and talents determine their targets.

Updated Monster Classification

All monsters are now divided into four distinct categories:

  • PvE Monster
    • Counts as a PvE target
  • PvE Summoned Monster (Minion)
    • Counts as a PvE target
  • PvP Monster
    • Counts as a PvP target
  • PvP Summoned Monster (Skills & Talents)
    • Counts as a PvP target

From now on, skills and talents will explicitly distinguish between the types of targets they are intended to affect. Their descriptions will clearly indicate whether a mechanic applies to PvE targets, PvP targets, or both.

image.jpeg

As such, talents that previously affected all monsters will no longer apply to creatures summoned by skills and talents.

Target Selection for Area-of-Effect Skills and Talents

With Update 13.3, the way area-of-effect skills and talents select PvP targets has been revised. PvP monsters and creatures summoned by skills and talents will now count toward the PvP target cap.

When an area skill is used, PvP-classified monsters may be selected as targets with a certain probability. The total number of potential targets depends on how many player characters are within the skill's area of effect. In practice, this means that even if numerous PvP monsters are present within the affected area, player characters will still have a high chance of being affected by the skill.

If no player targets are present, the skill will function as usual, affecting random PvP monsters and summoned creatures within the PvP target limit.

These changes do not affect mass taunt (aggression) skills. Such skills will continue to affect all monsters according to the PvE target cap.

Target Selection for Area-of-Effect Healing Skills

Area-of-effect healing skills will follow similar rules when interacting with PvP targets, accounting for the PvP target cap while prioritizing players. Player characters within the affected area are guaranteed to receive healing. If the PvP target limit has not been fully used after healing players, the remaining slots will be filled by allied PvP monsters and creatures summoned by skills and talents.

Developer Commentary: These changes are primarily aimed at improving balance in large-scale battles. We expect them to enhance strategic diversity in GvG activities and make summoner classes feel more reliable in these encounters.

These adjustments should also improve the survivability of summoned creatures during mass combat. Previously, they were often eliminated too quickly, making it difficult for summoner-focused characters to perform at their full potential.

Quests Menu Update

Update 13.3 brings a major overhaul to the Quests menu. The main change is a redesigned quest interface that now displays all quest-related information in a single window, depending on the quest type and its current stage:

  • Quest dialog
  • Quest objectives with completion indicators
  • A button to expand or collapse completed objectives
  • Information about the items needed to complete the quest
  • Details about quest rewards
  • A button to abandon the quest
  • A button to track the quest on the map

The features previously accessed through the Menu button are now being moved into the quest information window. This window can now be opened with the new Info button, which replaces the Menu button.

Update 13.3 also adds new tutorial tooltips to the Quest menu to help heroes who are just beginning their journey in Arinar.

Updates to Tomb Entrance Search Points

  • After completing a Tomb, new search points will now appear within a short distance of the cleared Tomb.
  • Search points for Tomb entrances are now placed closer together at the minimum allowed distance, instead of being randomly scattered across the Golden Sands desert.
  • New Tomb entrance search points have been added.
  • The locations of several existing entrance search points have been adjusted.

Other Changes

  • The cooldown for summoning a minion will no longer reset when the character dies.
  • Fixed a bug that caused minion skill effects to occasionally override character skill effects. Minion skill effects have also been updated.
  • A separate language selection window has been added under Settings > Game.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented entry to a Tower if the Magic Stone reached it while no player was present in the location.

That's all for now – but stay tuned for more details on rewards, gifts, and more changes on release day!

See you at the open test!
