Warriors of Arinar!

The adventurers of Almahad know well that the Golden Sands conceal both hidden wonders and deadly snares. Few have ever dared to set foot on the Hill of the Black Sun – an ancient frontier echoing with the remnants of long-lost civilizations. Legends whisper that those who reach its peak will face a trial unlike any encountered before...

Buried beneath the dunes and ancient foundations lies a sprawling labyrinth: the Catacombs of Almahad. These shadowed halls, forever untouched by sunlight, have long been claimed by a spider-worshiping tribe that guards its mysteries with fanatical devotion. Any soul bold enough to enter should remember one truth: descending into the Catacombs is only half the battle – escaping in time is the true challenge.

With Update 13.0, Almahad unveils an all-new kind of adventure! The Catacombs are a timed, party-based PvPvE dungeon, where players split into teams and fight their way through both monsters and rival parties, seizing treasures along the way. The core objective is simple: gather as much loot as possible and reach the designated extraction point before time runs out.

Let's break down the details and prepare for a run into the Catacombs!

Entering the Catacombs

Access to the Catacombs follows a timed schedule. You can check the next available entry through the new Catacombs button in the Activities section of the radial menu. There, you'll find everything you need: upcoming start and end times, entry requirements, a list of possible rewards, and the entrance location marked on your map.

A countdown timer above the active entrance to the ziggurat – along with a special map marker – will also indicate when the Catacombs are about to open.

The Hill of the Black Sun is a holy ground where spilling blood is strictly forbidden. Whoever dares to defy this law and raise a hand against another will suffer harsh retribution!

Registration and Party Matching

Inside the ziggurat, you'll find yourself in the lobby, where the Registrar awaits. This is where registration takes place – but only solo players and party leaders will be able to initiate the process. To register successfully, every party member must be present in the lobby and belong to any non-playable guild.

If a party member leaves the lobby or the party composition changes during registration, the process will be canceled automatically.

When enough players have signed up, the system will form parties based on the following rules:

  • Solo players and incomplete parties are filled up to 5 members

  • Parties are balanced across Alliances whenever possible

  • Preference is given to mixing members from different guilds

  • Once assigned, a party is locked for the entire run

  • After the run ends, the party composition remains intact

Up to four parties will enter the Catacombs to face the challenge together. Once all parties are assembled, participants are transported to military camps within the Catacombs – and the true trial begins!

Surviving the Catacombs

The eerie green glow of torches barely pierces the suffocating darkness, casting fleeting shadows along ancient stone walls. Twisting corridors weave into a deadly maze, each turn concealing a trap – or something worse. But the greatest threat isn't the labyrinth itself, nor its vicious beasts. Rival parties roam the Catacombs, eager to claim not only your life but your hard-won treasures. Only those who fight wisely, side by side with their allies, will survive and escape with their rightful rewards!

At their core, the Catacombs are PvP areas where hostility is determined by party. From the start of each run, PvE activities of varying difficulty will also appear across different sections of the dungeon.

At the heart of the dungeon lies the Awakening Hall. Shortly after the event begins, one of the two bosses – Blasphemous Hazzar or Shadowed Darkhan – will emerge. A clash with either of these bosses is a true trial, reserved for the strongest. Only by defeating them can the greatest trophies be claimed!

Within the spider worshippers' lairs, grim sentinels stand guard over treasure chests. Each chest can be opened multiple times, but every character can claim their share only once. Defeat the guardians to reach the loot – but beware, your rivals won't hesitate to seize what you've fought for!

In the narrow passages of the Catacombs, roaming bandit patrols pose a constant threat, striking suddenly from the shadows. Defeating them can yield valuable loot, but think twice before engaging them alone!

Hidden caches of treasure are scattered throughout the Catacombs, locked behind guarded chests. Smaller spider packs also lurk in the corridors, each carrying trophies worth collecting. Amid the winding halls of the Catacombs lie ancient stones that radiate mystical energy. Defeat their protectors and touch the stones to gain a boon that strengthens both you and your allies.

All rewards collected during the run will be tracked virtually. They will be displayed beneath the minimap and logged in the information chat, but you won't be able to add them to your inventory until you return to the lobby.

Remember that guild skills, Teleportation Scrolls, and Potions of Chaos cannot be used inside the Catacombs.

Losing Loot

In the Catacombs, death comes at a price. When your character falls, a portion of your rewards is dropped as a special object called Loot. This loot remains available for anyone to pick up until the timer expires.

To reclaim your belongings, you'll need to return to the drop point and retrieve them. But act quickly! If someone reaches it first, your hard-won treasures may end up in enemy hands! If you die in the Catacombs, you'll respawn at the Revival Bonfire in the military camp – either instantly or after a short delay.

Emergency Exit and Evacuation

Time is not on your side in the Catacombs. Every moment of hesitation lowers your chances of escaping with your full reward. To keep your loot, you must return to the lobby before the timer runs out. There are two ways to do this:

  • Evacuation – A slower and riskier process that requires uninterrupted interaction. If completed successfully, all your rewards are preserved and can be collected instantly.

  • Emergency Exit – A quick way back to the lobby. However, this comes at a cost: you'll lose a portion of your earned Knowledge, currency, and reputation, while item rewards will be sealed in the Catacomb Vault.

If you fail to use either method before the timer ends, your character will be returned to the lobby automatically. In that case, part of your loot will be lost, and the rest will be locked in the Vault.

Loot Vault

Have you spotted the mysterious Catacomb Vault in the lobby yet? This is where all the item-based loot you collect in the dungeon is stored. What you're able to retrieve depends entirely on how you left the dungeon.

If you successfully evacuated, all your loot will be available immediately, with every slot open and ready to transfer to your inventory.

If you used the emergency exit – or were forced out when time expired – some item slots will be sealed. To unlock them, you'll need to spend Silver Dirhams.

Remember, the Vault resets with the start of each new Catacomb cycle, so don't delay in claiming your rewards! Even after the Catacombs close, you'll still be able to access the Vault in the harbor of Er-Sahil. Knowledge, currency, and reputation are added to your character immediately upon returning to the lobby, and the amount varies based on how you left the dungeon.

The Catacombs are no place for the careless! Shadows conceal deadly secrets, every corner may hide an ambush, and even the fiercest hunter can become someone else's prey. Only those who endure the darkness and escape its grasp will earn the title of true conquerors of Almahad's Catacombs!

See you in the next part of the announcement!

Seems like a really cool concept. I just hope the rewards from this or something else in the update are worth it since currently a 5+ year old dungeon that people solo in 3 minutes with 4 afk alts is the only source of undeniable best in slot gears

Is resilience and ferocity effective against the monsters in catacombs? If not then we need to move maps just to switch to pvp gears and fight back against players when we are already fighting against mobs.

If they are like other monsters then no.

GMs are creating events for the friend again and again, like catacombs events, but can you create your own party? It's beneficial for players who already have an octo/orci book. At least if you create an event like this, it's at least on pt 2, and the rest are random. If pt 1 is already filled with 5 anomalies and the opponents are below them, are these catacombs interesting?
