Explorers of Almahad!

The time has come to dive back into our developer diaries and uncover the latest chapter of your journey on the Island of the Chainless League! We're excited to give you an early look at a brand-new sector planned for release in Fall 2025. If you're planning your very first expedition to Almahad, be sure to check out parts one and two of our diary series – there's a lot to discover, and a little preparation goes a long way! Now, let's explore the next part of the story!

Please keep in mind that the update is still in active development, so any features may change before release.

If you've already stepped foot on Almahad, you've likely seen the sandstorms that once cloaked parts of the island in a dense, dusty veil. But now, the raging winds are beginning to calm, revealing new paths for daring adventurers! The island's western expanse – the Valley of Bones – has slumbered beneath the sands for centuries. Soon, it will welcome the first brave explorers and unveil the long-buried secrets of a forgotten past...

History of the Mardudeen Caliphate

Of all the caliphates that once thrived on Almahad, only one stood apart from the relentless pursuit of conquest and control over trade routes. The Mardudeen Caliphate never sought wealth in silks and spices, nor did they send caravans into the unknown or forge economic alliances. As the island's climate grew harsher, the Mardudeen retreated deeper into their ziggurats, devoting themselves to unlocking the mystery of immortality.

In that distant age, the Mardudeen were led by a powerful sorcerer named Nesquarin. When calamity and ruin swept across Almahad, he united his people around the study of ancient texts and spells said to hold the key to eternal life. It was during this time that Nesquarin performed a ritual that would forever alter the fate of his people. Through cunning and deceit, he tricked the entranced Jakkars, stealing their strength – and with it, a shard of Garahan's own might.

Nesquarin's triumph was unmatched. He seized a power beyond even the wildest dreams of the mightiest caliphs. Insatiable, he continued draining the Jakkars' strength through necromantic rites and the Eye of the Black Sun. With each ritual, his might grew. Nesquarin forged a towering skeletal body for himself, and his undying Mardudeen army spread terror into neighboring caliphates, forcing them to bow before their master's will...

Blinded by ambition, Nesquarin never saw vengeance coming. The winged demon Titorion returned the Jakkars to life, and they exacted a brutal revenge – leaving the necromancer's massive bones to bleach beneath the desert sun. For the Mardudeen, the pursuit of immortality became a curse. With Nesquarin's fall, their bodies began to change, and their minds unraveled into madness. Today, the Valley of Bones is a wasteland teeming with mindless ghouls, cunning harpies, jackals, and other desert scavengers. But amidst the ruins, the maddened Mardudeen still linger, endlessly awaiting the return of their necromancer master.

Valley of Bones – Map Overview

The sun-scorched lands of the Valley of Bones still bear the stain of the ancient Jakkar curse. Here, the sand runs gray – like the ashes of a fallen civilization – and the desert wind whistles through the hollow remains of Nesquarin's skeleton and the colossal beasts that once roamed these lands.

The decay of the once-mighty Mardudeen Caliphate is etched into every broken wall and sun-bleached pillar. Once-proud structures carved from bone now crumble into dust. Scattered throughout the valley, nomadic ghoul clans have pitched their tents near the resting place of the great necromancer.

To advance through the main storyline, you'll need to navigate the Valley of Bones, forge alliances with Mardudeen priests and warlords, uncover bone-crafted relics, and fend off scavengers, ghouls, and the reanimated dead. Perhaps, somewhere among the cursed remains, a fragment of the mysterious Black Sun Circlet lies hidden...

Valley of Bones Bestiary

Little remains in living memory of the monstrous beasts that once roamed the Valley of Bones. Only fragments of Mardudeen scrolls survive, offering fleeting glimpses into the ancient creatures whose bones lie scattered across the sands – grim warnings to all who pass. Study them well, for those fossils carry meaning to the locals... and may hint at what lies ahead. Soon, you may face the last living remnant of a long-lost species.

Attor
The Attors once thrived in rivers and lakes, their remains now the only clues to the long-vanished waterways of the region. Since the Great Rift, these creatures were forced to adapt to a shifting world. Today, their bizarre skeletons still lie beneath the dunes – but beware: the sages of Er-Sahil warn that their bones are infused with ruinous magic, deadly to any who touch them.

Palebelly Singe
Among the most savage and bloodthirsty predators of the Valley, the Singes were infamous for their cruelty. Massive and merciless, they would toy with their prey, offering the illusion of escape before delivering the killing blow. Their fossilized bones are unnaturally resilient – impervious even to time. The Mardudeen hunted these cunning lizards for their skeletons, using them to construct their dwellings.

Ekkat
Before the Mardudeen succumbed to undeath, the Ekkats served as loyal long-distance mounts for those daring enough to ride them. These crimson-scaled drakes were renowned for their endurance, even in the harshest seasons. But as the Mardudeen lost their humanity and reason, the Ekkats were hunted to extinction. Now, their bones decorate ghoul encampments – grim trophies that fill travelers with dread.

Ngarrang
A monstrous being of staggering scale, believed by some to be the spawn of Garahan himself. Wherever Ngarrang roamed, devastation followed. A single beat of its vast wings could stir up storms, and its claws carved through stone like parchment. During Nesquarin's reign, it vanished beneath the sands. Even now, when the desert winds rise, the desert folk whisper that Ngarrang is stirring, snorting sand through its enormous nostrils. Perhaps the dark magic of madness and immortality still pulses in its ancient bones...

Mamun, the Sand Mammoth
The Mamun, also known as the Sand Mammoth, was one of the largest – but least aggressive – creatures of the Valley. While generally peaceful, wild Mamuns could become dangerous when startled. Some were captured and tamed by the Mardudeen, trained for war or used as beasts of burden.

Clawed Cerat
Treasure hunters, mercenaries, assassins, and would-be heroes have long pursued the legend of the Clawed Cerat. But with scythe-like claws and twin rows of razor-sharp teeth, the Cerat offers little hope for mercy. It's unlikely you'll meet a hero who walked away from a fight with a Cerat in one piece.

Mage's Guild

Amid the weathered bones and sand-choked ruins of the Valley of Bones, magical relics lie buried – still pulsing with traces of Nesquarin's ancient power. Today, as tensions rise among the non-playable guilds of Almahad, this stretch of desert has become a center of growing interest for the Mage's Guild. If you hope to find the mysterious Black Sun Circlet, you'll need their guidance – the mages almost certainly know where one of its fragments can be found!

icon_use_11502.png Mage's Guild
Renowned for their mastery of ancient magical artifacts, the Mage's Guild possesses unrivaled knowledge of hidden treasures. They hold to a simple belief: the spark of magic can dwell in anyone. As such, their ranks are open to people of all backgrounds, ages, and genders. Only those who prove their resolve, inner strength, and purity of intent can earn a place among the Mages and join in their pursuit of the unknown.

mage-quest-en.gif

Like other non-playable guilds, joining the Mage's Guild unlocks a range of exclusive content within their domain – the Valley of Bones – including storyline, daily, and dynamic quests, a unique dungeon, and more. Progressing through the guild's main story will also open up additional questlines tied to the territories of other guilds. By completing daily and dynamic quests and other activities, you'll earn reputation with the Elders of the Mage's Guild.

You can spend your hard-earned reputation to unlock special talents unique to the Mage's Guild – including one that grants access to an exclusive, mage-only game mechanic!

Mage Mechanic: Towers

To the ordinary traveler, the Golden Sands desert appears to be nothing but a vast, scorching sea of dunes. But for the Mage's Guild, these sands are alive with hidden signs! By mastering a unique talent, the most learned Mages can sense the presence of ancient Towers scattered across the desert – mysterious vaults filled with treasure. However, true wisdom demands more than simple discovery. Uncovering a Tower's entrance is only the first step. To claim the riches within, guild members must defend the Tower against waves of monsters, all before its walls collapse.

Your search for one of the four Tower entrances begins with magical stones that appear randomly across the desert once the mechanic is active. While anyone nearby can see these stones, only members of the Mage's Guild with the required talent can unlock their power!

A single touch from a Mage is enough to awaken the stone, sending it toward a Tower entrance. But there's a catch – the stone will only move along its path if the activating character stays close. If left unattended for too long, it will become dormant once again, ready to be claimed by any Mage's Guild member. This gives rivals the perfect chance to intercept it, so stay alert. Reactivating a stone takes time, and every second matters!

Prepare for a dangerous journey across the desert. On your way, you'll encounter hostile creatures of the Golden Sands, hostile rival players, and even monsters summoned by the stone itself. Defeat them quickly to keep the stone moving along its unique route toward the mysterious Tower.

Once the entrance is located, the Mage can invite their party to enter a mini-dungeon – but remember, the portal remains open only for a limited time. At the Tower's heart lies a treasure chest, but claiming it is no simple task. The chest is sealed within a magical barrier, and touching it triggers waves of monsters. To succeed, your party must defeat every wave before time runs out. Each Tower encounter is randomly generated, requiring your team to adapt its tactics on the fly.

When the final wave falls, every participant receives a guaranteed reward, plus a chance at bonus loot from the chest. Be quick – claim your prize before the Tower collapses!

The Mage's Guild mechanic is a true test of versatility, combining PvP and PvE. Searching for Towers in the Golden Sands will challenge your endurance against hostile PvP monsters and rival players. Conquering the Tower's interior will demand coordination and teamwork from your party to overcome its PvE trials. Are you ready to prove your mastery?

The Island of the Chainless League is a realm of mirages and ancient mysteries, where winds whisper in lost languages and the sands guard the traces of civilizations long gone. Like a beacon, it draws adventurers from every corner of Arinar. Are you ready to embark on your own journey of discovery?

See you soon on Almahad!

nice, more content but still broken system. this is not for wha most of s waiting. merge elfs with elfs because mc side is dead in all servers except russian one. in the rest of servers only elfs ruled all raid bosses and mc instead of fight and play on their favorite classes, they prefer to leave game or left mc side and play on elfs side.reality.

The art and update in general look great, but it's a bit worrying to see another separate talent tree, if mage's guild indeed is one. Three different ones for one area is a lot by itself, but if there are more coming in the future it definitely carries the risk of becoming convoluted.

I hope we finally get the final Expert Skill for each class. It's been 4 years already since the last time we got new ones, for God's sake! :stfu:

I just mean "final" because we already have 9 Expert Skills for each class, would make sense that it would end at 10

Especially since now it's all about talents instead

Keep in mind that adding expert skills is not an easy task to do. You have to consider the entire balancement state of the game and see which class needs what... it's somewhat understandable, from my point of view, that they're taking some time before releasing anything related to this topic.

Same as talents :laughingpumpkin: some of them pratically give you whole new skills, and yet we get them every year (not including the event ones)

The only difference being that Expert Skills are a bit more complex and a lot more accessible than talents

That's an interesting point indeed, especially the accessibility one.

The impact in the game would be immediate. Another good reason to take more time for programming them

I don't think the impact being immediate or delayed would be better/worse, since in the end, there would be an impact anyways

In fact, being immediate would mean that if it was buggy or under/overpowered, it would be a lot easier to see compared to a talent which not everyone may use

It was pretty easy in past, it's even easier than adding a whole talents system for each character, in past they didnt even take that much time to add more skills for each class and it was the most hyped thing to get more buyable expert skills from the skills library than some passive stats skills we get to make some players more unbalanced than others.
