Proposal to Nerf Physical Build and Buff Magical Abilities of the Chief Class

Featured Replies

I want to address an important issue regarding the Chief class. From its inception, this class was designed to deal area magical damage, but unfortunately, we are seeing a significant scarcity of this type of build across the servers. Currently, physical builds are dominating, which goes against the class's original purpose.

To rebalance this situation, I propose nerfing physical builds and buffing area magical abilities. This would not only make magical builds more viable and competitive but also restore the Chief's role as a powerful source of magical damage on the battlefield.

Chieftain wasn't designed only with magic. phys, mix, and magic are all possible. magic wasn't quite as lethal as the phys, and the recently released bracelet update has made magic more weaker. These days, anyone has decent magic def, even without a shield. So we don't need nerf phys cheif, and devs can reduce the magic defenses of accessories or increase the damage to chief's magic skills.

For magical abilities to become viable and relevant, they need a significant increase in their damage and utility. Simply changing defenses or accessory damage won’t solve the problem. We need nerfs to physical builds, allowing magical ones to shine again. Otherwise, we will continue with a one-dimensional game dynamic, where magical builds are always sidelined. It’s essential for the Chief class to reclaim its role as a true source of massive magical damage, and that will only happen with more aggressive changes.

Magic is still competitive in dg with many mobs. chief will die if you want to nerf phys.

Nah physical Chieftain has way too much in 1 build. No wonder other variants are unplayable, it's definitely badly designed. No other class has much utility in 1 single build. You are as tanky as it gets, you still heal enough from the magic in physical maces + life steal from physical damage, which on a large scale fight, might still not be as much as magical damage in radius, but still probably higher in close range - too much AoE for a physical build, that still does very high damage on single targets. Not only that you have movement speed, and the best 2 skills for Arena - removing buffs and debuff cleanse/immunity. I mean what does it not have.

It's the same problem with Beastmaster, there is pretty much no point in playing physical builds.

If you compare that with other hybrid classes like Paladin or Charmer. The magical/physical builds are clearly both relevant and serve separate purposes, and you can't have it all in 1 build, which is the way it should be.

As I chief player, I disagree with with nerf. Physical build does have the dmg output, that is true, but it does that by sacrificing heals, magic dmg and your AoE skills, that are based on magic dmg not physical.

In arena being good 1vs1 doesn't do much, since arena was not designed to be 1vs1. So chief can be good vs single targets, but if you think healing from just pure physical based skills is enough to be tanky, then you’re mistaken.

As for chiefs resist skill. It lasts 5s on 4/4 or more with talent (to be precise 9s) but then again it comes at the cost of losing 10% resist per second till last 20%. Rugged hide got also huge nerf comparing to previous 60%-90% dmg reduction to max of 60% dmg reduction max (meaning when we’re left with about 10% hp). You forgot to mention one thing, we got resist true, where are our stuns? We have to do thrashing + frenzy to have 2-4s stun, while thrashing gets resisted in 90% of cases. So we rely on our dmg.

Besides I am one example how to build chief, that is not full physical, being able to tank in mass crowds, arena etc. That’s all a combination of timing and my gear and skill build with 2 books only. There is a big variety how to build chief, a lot of build built for different situations.

So if you want to utilize magic build, sure. Increase some magic dmg in skills, make some physical skills based on dominating physical/magical dmg, but don’t do it at the cost of physical dmg, as it would only be nerf for chief. With the introduction of bracelets as it was mentioned earlier, magic dmg barely does any dmg and now you want chief to be more magic so it can’t kill anything? Comparing charmer and paladin to chief doesnt make sense either, since paladin is a tanky healer and charmers are summoners, so their dmg is dependant on summons. If anything compare it with seeker, BDs or mages even.

No worries

This is most likely a sentinel making this post.
The same sentinel with overcrowded  servers on their side. 0 Coincidence elf has more characters and is more populated in all servers but 1.

Sentinels have it extremely easy all around in game. It’s a shame any of them have to complain about any legion class. They have every thing easy and given to them. Only orci fully booked chiefs are OP with phys build.

Question:

Why are all servers overpopulated with sentinel classes?

Answer: Because their skills are much better, starting islands are much easier, it’s the first option to choose., and if a new player starts on mc it’s dead and they switch. On some servers elves will sit on islenort and kill questors. Then they will switch to mc side pm

them and tell them to join elf or they won’t be able to quest.

They make forum posts and complaints to make their life even easier. Maybe an MC killed them once or twice before. Btw most elf classes don’t need books or amps. It’s not even close in balance or population would be different.

Chief is fine, it was already nerfed.

What about BD, Druid, beastmaster, paladin, and warden?

Nerf nerf nerf nerf please this winter event. Nerf the heck out of them so populations are semi close. It’s been bad for 10 years and players think it’s normal.

The development should check chief ability again. they abuse power Physical bulids. that totally make chief broke become more overpowered

This is the point why chief should neft. i dont know why the developers dont know about this. you make analysis better then all developers 😂

Is it? They are bigger variety to play with chieftain class. There is full physical, full magical, hybrid build. Physical one focuses on single targets, magical on AoEs. Hybrid is combination of both, but with reduced dmg in both areas. @Gladiatormight have mentioned all the skills chieftain have, but we cant lvl up all of them, can we? The part about heal is wrong. If chieftain is full physical with only magic in maces, the heal from magic skills (AoEs) or even the Bear Stamina skill is insignificant even on heal pot. And lifesteal heal would work only from bleeds, which need time to generate.

No MC class will need to be nerfed. Whatever they do they need to be smart. So many people have left warspear. The balance is out of control on 5 servers being dominated by elf in mass battle and skills and extreme population. Dev need to stop new elf chars from being made again, i stopped by a few different servers and found out elf is dominating in almost everything
