Discard stone shatters and level sun shield to 3 to get my hybrid build, which i also wrote about in my guide in "Best Guide" section. Take a look.

I'd advise to consider warp over shatter unless you're really unlucky with bugged position.

i would recommend leveling up illusionary chains only if you want to use mage for arena/wars. It would also help in pve, could save you especially when groups of mobs "gank" you

 

if pvp, which I would assume your enemies will be ranged, you might as well leave it at lv1. Its an escape skill.

might be useful vs ranger, but against any other ranged class, you would only be giving them more time to heal or for their skills to cooldown.

 

I was considering leaving illusionary chains at 1 and putting all other skills at lv4. Would be awesome for single pvp.

The best set up for a Mage, no one believed me though, til they noticed they didn't even do damage when they lv5 chain > lv5 shatter.

Lv5 Warp is so boss, it makes +7 Mage +10 Mage.

 

If you cannot handle melees with even lv3 Chains and want to rape Casters x2 moar then you can ditch Chains for Shield.

Honestly, I would. Only way to kill a melee is run like a bitch but that would only need lv1 Chains and Warps.

1st one, nope, get 3 chains, 4 sends enemy further than Shatter's range, so you'll have to walk one yard closer, if you want chains, do 3 or 5.

Sorry, my bad, and yes, I had 3 on chains
